Wikipedia x Encyclopedia of InvisibilityeditIntroductioneditWorking in collaboration with artist Tavares Strachan, who began his Encyclopedia of Invisibility (2014–present) to document information that has been deemed hidden or erased from history, the Wikipedia x Encyclopedia of Invisibility initiative seeks to expand articles about individuals who have been underrepresented or forgotten on Wikipedia. With a focus on diverse narratives, we aim to amplify voices that have been marginalized and provide a platform for untold histories. Methodology:editOur methodology revolves around collaboration with educational institutions and experienced organizations, pairing them with seasoned Wikipedians. Through dedicated programming, experienced Wikipedia editors will lead workshops to educate staff members from these organizations. This collaborative approach ensures the effective dissemination of knowledge and maximizes the impact of our project. Articles:editParticipants are invited to engage directly with our curated selection of articles from Strachan's Encyclopedia of Invisibility (Pocket Guide) (2024). Each article represents a unique opportunity to enhance the visibility and understanding of lesser-known or underrepresented topics. Whether your interest lies in refining existing content or expanding upon sparse entries, your contributions will play a crucial role in enriching this collaborative endeavor. Additionally, feel free to add topics to the page that reflect invisible stories or underrepresented articles on Wikipedia. Choose an article or topic that resonates with your knowledge and passion, and help us illuminate the hidden corners of history and culture. You may find a list of articles here. |
