The Kateb Maktub Competition does not promote any category of writers and is not biased against any particular writer. Our main objective is to enrich the Arabic content in Wikipedia about Arab authors from the Arab world.
Please be advised that all names suggested in the lists below were gathered from reputable and accredited Arab publishing houses, and you can view the list of names' sources here. Also, please note that the jury reviews and checks all lists of names to ensure that they meet the notability criteria.
We recommend and urge participants to ensure authors’ notability before creating articles to avoid articles deletion.
Wikipedia allows the deletion of Wikipedia articles without so much as a discussion if the article meets certain criteria, such as the article not having any reference, SPAM, hoaxes, attack pages, etc.
Deletion is done by Wikipedia administrators based on the mentioned criteria, they can do “express deletion” only in limited cases. in this case, deleting not only erases the content, but also deletes the page with its history from the entire Wikipedia, only administrators can see the deleted edits and restore them.
The Most Important Reasons to Remove Articles from Wikipedia:
Insufficient significance: The person or brand is still little known. There is little or even no mentions of them in the press, publications in the media.
Non-encyclopedic style: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Therefore, the style should be scientific and clear, without epithets, comparisons, advertising phrases, praise and evaluative judgments.
Non-authoritative sources: Wikipedia has clear definitions of which sources to consider authoritative.
The article was created with violations: For example, it is forbidden to write about yourself or your company.
The article was created by a participant with zero or very small contribution: If the article is published by a freshman, it immediately attracts the attention of experienced editors and administrators on various violations.
Each participant is allowed to reserve 3 articles at a time but is prohibited from reserving a fourth article unless the size of one of the articles already booked has reached (4000 bytes) - for each reserved and created article please include this template ({{article development}}).
Participants must add the hashtag #KMC in the article's edit summary before it is published.
All participants must create all reserved articles within 48 hours of reserving the article.
Please ensure authors’ notability before creating articles and search publishing houses and reliable sources to find the characters’ verified name to avoid confusion with similar names.
In case an article is deleted participants should submit a request for undeletion and mentioning the reason for the request, in addition, administrators will review the request and the participant will receive one point when requesting undeletion.
Participants may suggest authors names to the organizing committee here for inclusion in the competition lists, provided that the author meets notability criteria.
