Wikifying America’s Legislative Process: Congressional Committees and Hearings Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

The Law Library of Congress (LLC), the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and Wikimedia DC will be co-hosting a Wikipedia edit-a-thon at the Library of Congress. The event, Wikifying America’s Legislative Process, will focus on improving Wikipedia articles related to congressional committees and hearings. The event will include speakers from the Senate Historical Office, Smithsonian American Art Museum, NARA’s Center for Legislative Archives, and the Library of Congress.

Participants will learn about a variety of legislative research collections and resources, including Congress.gov and resources at the Center for Legislative Archives and Senate Historical Office. Participants will also have the opportunity to collectively improve the quality of information about congressional committees available on Wikipedia.

What should I bring?

Please bring a laptop and photo id. The Library of Congress has a limited number of loaner laptops you may utilize during the edit-a-thon, and they are first-come, first-served.

Do I need a Reader Registration Card?

You are not required to obtain a Library of Congress Reader Registration Card; however, if you would like to obtain one, they are available in the James Madison Memorial Building, Room 140. For additional information on obtaining a Reader Registration Card, visit https://www.loc.gov/rr/readerregistration.html.

May I take photographs?

You are welcome to bring your own camera or non-feeder scanner.
