Getting to Know Your Archdiocese: A Wikipedia Editing Workshop
Join us at the Catholic Information Center as we gather to edit articles on parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington in honor of the Feast of St. Jerome, patron saint of translators, librarians, and encyclopedists. There is a rich institutional history of the Catholic Church here in the Archdiocese dating all the way back to John Carroll, the first Bishop and Archbishop in the United States. Our goal is to make that history known on the world's largest online encyclopedia.
Attendees will learn to edit Wikipedia and use online and print sources to update related Wikipedia articles. Experienced Wikipedians will be on hand to provide training and guidance. There will also be some librarians available to help with research.
Laptops are required; please bring your own. Wikimedia has two laptops to loan. Reserve one by emailing [email protected]. New editors are strongly encouraged to create a Wikipedia account before the day of the event.
