As a state, Indiana is overwhelmingly depicted in political and social conversion as a "red" state with all of the inherent conservative leanings. However, the history of Indiana and Indianapolis specifically is a bit more progressive than the currently available historical archive covering the state of Indiana suggests. In labor movements, historic events, public landmarks, and groups, Indiana as a space has been influenced by a radical progressive thread.
