The Women's March Edit-a-thon will be held at St. Louis County Library Grant's View Branch on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, as part of the Women's March efforts happening in January 2017 across the USA. The aim of the Women's March is to bring together women throughout the country to show unity in the fight for the rights of women and other marginalized groups. Let's bring this same unity to the pages of the Internet to affect bias and equity on Wikipedia.
The Edit-a-thon will be held in the room labeled "storytime" near the children's section of the library, which is to the east of the entry doors on the first level.
What to expect
editThis is a gathering for anyone, from seasoned contributors to people who are wanting to know more. Anyone can contribute. No Wikipedia editing experience necessary; as needed throughout the event, tutoring will be provided for Wikipedia newcomers. This event is open to everyone. Women editors, especially women of color and diverse gender expression, are particularly encouraged to attend. If you are unfamiliar with Wikipedia, you can get a head start with this this training module.
