Some wiki types, some beers, some chat. We actually covered quite a lot of ground - and I (privatemusings) certainly had a grand 'ol time.... Thanks to all for coming along, and per the above, hope to see you before too long! Good venue as it has it had Kilkenny on tap (well spotted Angela!). I can't unnerstand how anyone can drink Tooheys New though :) (hic!)

Seconded. Disappointed we couldn't agree to Manning Bar as a regular meeting place. But c'est la vie as Ned Kelly famously said. Alastair Haines (talk) 23:59, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

13th March 2009

edit

On 13th March 2009, the Powerhouse Museum gave Wikimedia Australia members (and friends) a personal tour through their collections - much of it not on public display. They took photos for us and gave us access to their curators as well as a meeting room. In exchange, we are helping to improve articles about their items.

April, drinks at The Belgian Beer Cafe, 6pm til late!

edit

To avoid confusion, the meetup is planned for the beer cafe in The Rocks - here - if you find yourself in the wrong one, have a couple of beers, and just talk wiki with anyone who'll listen - you'll likely have a blast regardless :-).

135 Harrington Street
The Rocks NSW 2000.
Located in the old St. Patrick School Hall, just behind Grosvenor Place.

It's that time again.... following hugely successful presentations at Wiki Wednesdays in various corporate contexts, wikimedia folk may feel a return to their spiritual stomping ground (the pub) is timely. I'm sure the regular, friendly crowd would especially like to meet any wiki contributors who haven't been able to get along to one of these before, we'll basically just have a few drinks and chew the cud.

There will be two meetups because not everyone can come to both.

meetup 1: Friday 17th April

edit

This is the night of the final day of the "Unlocking IP" conference. Perhaps some attendees from that would like to come to the meetup

It happened :-) - or so I'm told, having unfortunately not made it :-( - come on down to the next one on Wed :-) Privatemusings (talk) 07:04, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Meetup 2: Wednesday 22nd April

edit

Would love to come, but cannie make it

The following people signed up to attend:

21st October, 18.30 somewhere walking distance from Circular Quay

Is this still happening? What's the location?? Witty Lama 02:02, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering the same. I'll recommend Max Brenner's House of Chocolate if no-one has a better suggestion. (Corner of Margaret and George St, about 3 blocks from CQ). Manning (talk) 01:41, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Tempter, begone...! No, what the hell, my better half'd probably prefer I was at the pub, but I just won't tell her... ;-) Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 01:53, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK - Location is: Max Brenner's on Margaret and George street. (map)

Okay, have just sent out a quick reminder email to wikimediaau-l giving the address and time, but it seems to be stuck in an email queue somewhere - hopefully it will show up soon! -- All the best, Nickj (t) 05:47, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose this happened last week. Sadly, real life intervened and I couldnae come. Will try for the next one (unless it ended up tomorrow (??)). Can someone then archive and write a report? Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 03:45, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed it did and sorry we missed you. I'm proposing a "Wikipedia Birthday" party for Jan 15 2010. Manning (talk) 03:49, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, see you there

A Suggestion for October 2009

edit

There's a beer festival and a food festival next month. I propose a meetup coinciding with one or more of these events. Any preferences for dates or locations? I'm happy with any day except Thursday before October 23rd. Angela. 13:25, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Finally - I'll actually be in the country when there is a meetup. I'm good any night except Tuesday... Manning (talk) 13:47, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A Tues or Wed is best..Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:48, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
21st oct gets my vote - I'll set it up a bit and see what happens :-) Privatemusings (talk) 16:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
28th would be better due to possible San Francisco visits coming up. Angela. 00:30, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
28th is good for me. Manning (talk) 00:48, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Either date is ok for me Mike (talk) 02:01, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I may be away 28st October, so 21st is a better bet for me... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 02:42, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

October 2010?

edit

Maybe October? Inner west is fine with me. Ariconte (talk) 02:15, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion: next time inner west, where it's not as expensive as the Belgian Cafe, not in the city, parking freer, and then it doesn't matter quite so much that it's on a week-night in peak hour. Tony (talk) 13:42, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What happened to public transport Tony?? But seriously, Inner West is good - Norton St Leichhardt, Glebe or Newtown are all possibilities (last is possibly best choice of food but lousy parking....) Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:50, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd go with Inner West as well, it's just as convenient, and the food/drink is much better but not as expensive. — Andrew Garrett • talk 14:51, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree Inner West or the city during a lunchtime would be good. Joshannon (talk) 08:01, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
