Taken from the chorus of Amazing. the "you'll never take that from me" part is open to suggestions. The My reign part may be confusing. It means the number of articles of Wikipedia. Again, open to suggestions. I wanted to do another fav song. But I don't see how I could put Bohemian Rhapsody or Welcome to the Jungle. Hope you like it. §imonKSK 21:04, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Edit 1 - I changed it because it said he worked hard to change his user page, not a good message. §imonKSK 21:14, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Who's the more foolish, the fool, or the fool who follows him?

Yes its from Starwars, but I hope it works anyway. And hope this hasn't been done before? Oh and by the way I knows its contradicting itself SpitfireTally-ho! 20:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Strong Support assuming that it hasn't been done before. I think that the second link really makes this motto work. It's far too easy for people to fall into the trap of assuming that it is OK to treat vandals like garbage just because they are vandals, and I think from time to time Wikipedians need reminding that insulting the vandals (or feeding the trolls, for that matter) just causes more problems. Even if it feels really, REALLY good while you're doing it. I mean, you know you're not supposed to, but they just replaced the the whole page with a copy of Top Gun (film), and when you reverted it, they did the same thing again, and then did it to your user page while you weren't looking, and then someone else came in and fixed your user page because you didn't notice because you were busy fixing the first page, and that's SO embarassing because it implies that you can't keep your own house in order, and you really just want to take that lousy, vandalizing IP address and throw every profanity in the english language (and a few Italian ones for good measure) at it, maybe declare Vendetta against it and its family, but you know that you can't because it's wrong, but you REALLY WANT TO, and after all, its just a vandal, and you know it deserves it, and you know that as soon as that 24 hour block expires it's going to get right back to vandalizing and there's nothing you can do to prevent it, so what's the harm in calling it a... Whoa. Sorry, I got a little carried away there. Anyway, anything that reminds people not to make things worse by antagonizing the vandals is a good thing in my book. Nutiketaiel (talk) 13:30, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Very Strong Support: Excellent is the word for this one. I've seen too many people leaving sarcastic messages on vandals' talk pages along with warnings. This has never failed to surprise me. Chamal talk 14:24, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

//roux   13:12, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Hmmmmmmm... Weak Support - I really, really like the quote, but I'm not sure that that's the best link for it... why not WP:LIBRARIANS? They seem like a group that's made alot of good contributions that deserves some recognition. Additionally, putting it in the motto of the day may inform other Wikipedian Librarians who are not aware of the project of its existance, so they might join. That link would have my Strong Support. Or, if you don't like that (since it does single out a specific group of people for extraordinary praise), how about linking it to WP:LIBRARY? It's a directory of shared resources to assist Wikipedians across various Wikiprojects. That link would also have my Strong Support. Nutiketaiel (talk) 13:24, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief.

This was the quote of the day over at our good friends Wikiquote. The last two links refer to those people who's minds are closed because they only think of and deal with rules and procedures... you know, Bureaucracy. In contrast, the "opened by wonder" link refers to those individuals who are willing to keep open minds and look beyond Bureaucracy for the improvement of the mind (the Wiki) for all of us. Between too early and too late, there is never more than a moment.

The third link is cumbersome but, I think, appropriate. Nutiketaiel (talk) 21:19, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Reply - The first link is to a page section condemning "unverifiable speculation"- in short, things that are added to Wikipedia "too early," whether before they are verifiable or before they are notable. The second link is to pages that need to be updated orm, in other words, information that is "too late." The third link is to a page section praising Wikipedia for its timliness- in other words, being appropriate to the "moment." Does that make more sense? Nutiketaiel (talk) 12:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
