This is my first attempt at contributing a lot to a Wikipedia article and I'm interested in learning what I can do to make it better! I'm also interested to find out what you think it should be "graded" (I like to imagine it's no longer a stub).

Comments from West Virginian
editMargotThe, overall this is a very well-written and interesting article regarding one of Pickford's most acclaimed films. Before nominating this article for Good Article review, I would recommend submitting this article for a copyedit at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests. I've left a few comments below. Thank you for your efforts and for your continued contributions to Wikipedia; and again, great job! -- West Virginian (talk) 20:08, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Lede
- Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section, the lede of this article adequately defines the film, establishes the film's necessary context, and explains why the film is otherwise notable.
- The info box for the film is beautifully formatted and its content is sourced within the article's main prose and by the references internally cited.
- The film poster has the appropriate PD-Pre1978 template and has the appropriate sourcing template at the top, therefore, it is acceptable for inclusion here.
- Per Wikipedia:Alternative text for images, the film poster should also have an "alt=" caption if the film info box allows for one.
- To make the lede more comprehensive, it should include more content from the "Production" section. Perhaps mention that Pickford played the role of a young girl at the age of 33. Or, you could mention more briefly how a realistic set for the film was built at the Pickford-Fairbanks backlot to simulate the downtrodden neighborhood. The "Legacy" section is already adequately represented in the lede.
- Perhaps rather than "penniless," which may come off as WP:COLLOQUIAL, I would suggest "impoverished" or "destitute."
- The lede is otherwise well-written, consists of content that is adequately sourced and verifiable, and I have no further comments or questions for this section.
Plot
- Since the lede describes Annie as being poor, I would add this characteristic to her initial introduction in the first paragraph of the section.
- Does Annie's gang have a name or title?
- I know it may seem silly, but I would suggestion wiki-linking "Wild West" to American frontier for those few readers who may need more context.
- Joe has been introduced above, so when he finds Annie on the horse, his name can just be rendered as "Joe" minus Kelly.
- Subsequent mentions of Joe can also drop Kelly.
- "traffic cop" seems a bit colloquial too; perhaps, use "officer" here.
- This section is otherwise written well and I have no further comments or questions for this section.
Cast
- I know this it's not a requirement for the "Cast" section in films, but I would suggest adding an inline citation here for the source of the cast. If you choose to do so, the easiest thing to do would be to add an introductory sentence followed by an inline citation, so as not to have it included after each name. This is merely a suggestion, though.
- The image of Pickford as Annie Rooney has been released into the public domain and is therefore acceptable for use here.
- Per Wikipedia:Alternative text for images, the image of Pickford should also have an "alt=" caption.
Production
- You should mention here that the film was directed by William Beaudine and written by Hope Loring, Louis Lighton, Pickford and explain the "as Catherine Hennessey" in the prose. The rest of the template's content should be worked in here.
- I wonder if it might be better to introduce Mary as America's Sweetheart, as: "Mary Pickford, known by the moniker of America's Sweetheart, built..." or something like it.
- If using the term ragamuffin, it may be helpful to wiki-link it to the Wiktionary entry at ragamuffin.
- This section is otherwise well-written, consists of content that is adequately sourced and verifiable, and I have no further comments or questions for this section.
Legacy
- I suggest naming the last two starring efforts that received lukewarm responses.
- Wiki-link nitrate to Nitrocellulose#Nitrate film for context.
- This section is otherwise well-written, consists of content that is adequately sourced and verifiable, and I have no further comments or questions for this section.
