I started this article on a former British swimmer/diver not long ago and have expanded it to the point that I feel it's close to being taken to GA. I'd like a peer review beforehand to iron out any obvious errors or issues and think it would benefit to have another set of eyes read over it. @Bungle: Since this is a GAN, I am going to close this PR. However, here are some comments to help while you wait for a GAN:

Anything to add to Early life? Maybe merge with 19th century?
Not sure the level 3 heading in 20th century is necessary.

@Z1720: Thanks. I started the PR in the hope someone could pick up any obvious defects but ultimately it didn't look like it was going anywhere, so I did bite the GAN bullet (I think it's in a fairly good state though).
