Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Archive/September 2009
I would like to take this portal to featured status. It is my first attempt at portal creation, so I would like to know what else I can do to improve it. Thanks in advance for your comments! Dana boomer (talk) 02:57, 3 September 2009 (UTC) Dana boomer (talk) 02:57, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Juliancolton's comments.
You're off to a great start! I particularly enjoyed looking at the selected pictures, which are very well-chosen. Some comments looking towards featured portal status.
- You might want to expand the intro with another paragraph of info (copy and paste from the Horse page will do).
- Done.
- Portal:Horses/Did you know/10 only has one entry, so it would be best to either incorporate that into another DYK subpage or expand it with three more hooks.
- I've removed page #10 from the rotation, and will re-add it when it contains four hooks.
- I did a bit of re-formatting, so please let me know if I've messed anything up.
- Looks good, thanks!
- In general, selected article blurbs should be about the same length so as to avoid odd whitespace popping up.
- Do you have specific article blurbs that you think should be expanded or reduced? At the moment, the blurbs are basically just the article lead, with several cut down so as to not be too far over the 200 word recommended length. Several are short (one paragraph), especially the articles on individual horses, because the articles themselves are quite short.
That's all for now. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:10, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Julian, thanks so much for these comments on the portal, and I apologize for taking so long to reply to you. I will try to get to these comments within the next day or so - hopefully... :) Dana boomer (talk) 00:24, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
