editRHDD
editI currently possess 1TB "WD My Passport Ultra" RHDD but IMO not durable and reliable... I'm looking for something smaller, reliable and durable, e.g., I wish to do Olympics sports with it in my pocket, or say, I want to drop it inside a cement mixing machine, than come back home and use it...if you know what I mean... -- Apostle (talk) 18:46, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- For the former, you'd likely want to use an SSD although you didn't mention what kind of sport, in some cases a HDD with a good case may be fine, with others, you could easily physically damage an SSD to make it physically unusable. For your later scenario, it's unlikely there's anything that will definitely survive. If you quickly wash off the cement and let it dry thoroughly, an SSD may survive provided there's nows stuck cement but otherwise cement on places where there shouldn't be is a good way to make a lot of electronics fail. - I want something so extremely durable and reliable. Metaphorically giving another example(s): I want to toss it and drop it on the floor like a coin as many times as I want - basically I want to torture it whenever I feel like and still be able to use it thereafter. What is highly praised? I need large volumes. The current 2TB I posses is almost full. -- Apostle (talk) 18:55, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
- It will be very difficult to find something that will survive that. Even ruggedised devices aren't generally designed to be intentional thrown about and there will need to be due consideration as to how to protect the connectors. (Many rugged devices will only properly protect the connector area when the cable is disconnected and you ensure you close any closable parts. While this is mostly a consideration for dust and water, if you're intentionally throwing the device around it wouldn't be that amazing for you to damage the connector area.) The price would also be very high. This for example is a 1TB rugged SSD [1] but probably not the sort of thing you should be intentionall throwing around. If you can actually find something suitable, maybe double the price, so I'd suggest ~$1500 as a starting point for a 2TB. Considering your previous comments, I'm surprised that you can afford such a device but it's your decision. Nil Einne (talk) 06:51, 11 June 2016 (UTC)

Best ‘‘camera’’ phone with a good & ‘‘organizer’’ sought
editWhat is the best quality camera phone available? -- Apostle (talk) 05:19, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Russell.mo: There is a recent comparison here: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/mobile-phone/best-phone-camera-of-2016-3612824/ . Is there anything you specifically need? - Champion (talk) (contribs) (Formerly TheChampionMan1234) 05:46, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- This is a better comparison, IMO: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-phone-cameras,review-2272.html - Ehryk (talk) 10:22, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- What is highliy praised? What is good all around?
- What I seek is a good camera phone that'll last forever. Or say, something that'll last for at least 20 years from now or so.
- According to analysis. 13 megapixel camera is sufficient, nothing above captured any attention yet, most importantly the display screen has to be something like 1080 * ___ or higher.
- ‘‘Battery’’ quality and ‘‘display’’ quality is desirable for, ‘‘adult videos’’ to watch on, to use internet, and any other softwares available in this planet, because I don’t wish to walk around with a charger around my neck.
- ‘‘Sony Xperia S’’ was comforting (in a way) but disadvantages were, it had inbuilt memory, battery becomes rubbish after a few months. I’m unaware of the videoing bit of this model, and is a necessity. Along all, the mandatory bit is, I need the phone’s organiser to function with ‘‘MS Outlook’’ (regardless of what the version is).
- I had ‘‘Sony Erricsson P1i’’ once, the organiser was amazing (it came with a CD which after install gave the option to integrate with MS Outlook) and the phone camera was just about good enough for that time period.
- Any suggestions?

- That 20 year requirement leaves out cell phones, IMHO. Cell phone batteries don't last more than a few years, and you may not be able to find replacements after a decade. Meanwhile, network support for that model will likely be dropped after a decade, too. I'd say what you need is a standalone camera, which allows you to upload pics to your PC, from which you can organize them in whatever way you like. Make sure it doesn't use any type of proprietary battery pack, but just standard off-the-shelf rechargeable batteries (AA or AAA, for example). If it has USB 3.0 support, hopefully any future version of USB will continue to support 3.0. Now you still will be lucky if nothing breaks over 20 years, but this will at least give you a shot at it. Be sure to take the batteries out when not in use, as leaking batteries can destroy a camera, and don't leave it in the car, as vibration and heat/cold cycles will shorten it's life.StuRat (talk) 16:46, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

- I think that SSLv3 has been completely removed from Chrome ([3]), so there may be no solution, except using an older browser. -- BenRG (talk) 06:28, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Correct, SSLv3 has been disabled completely, because it is not safe. What website are you trying to access? Can you contact the webmaster for that website? Otherwise, you'll have to use a different browser. Rchard2scout (talk) 13:03, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
Bash (probably) script by another editor
editWindows 10 Hyperlinks from Excel
editI've got an Excel spreadsheet with some hyperlinks in some of the cells. Despite my default browser being set to Chrome, and Chrome being the associated app for .htm and .html files, when I click on them I get a little box appear saying
- An app default was reset
- An app caused a problem with the default app setting for .htm files, so it was reset to Microsoft Edge.
And the web page opens in Edge. Is there any way to get this to work with Chrome?

- This link contains a registry update that is reported to resolve the issue, which was apparently initially caused by update KB3135173 back in February. I would have thought that a subsequent update would have fixed the problem, but I'm having trouble tracking down specifics on that. In any case, registry hacks should only be done if you know what you're doing, no warranties expressed or implied, this offer void in sectors R and N, etc etc. --LarryMac | Talk 18:39, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
