Programmable phone ?

edit

I have constant telemarketer calls that make my phones unusable. Currently on my home phone I do call screening (I wait for them to leave a message, then pick up if it's somebody I know). This is problematic in that I have to go to a part of the house where I can hear the message, and some people I know don't leave messages. On my cell phone, I don't accept calls unless I recognize the number. A black list would be of limited value, because the telemarketers constantly change their number. A white list would be helpful, but then somebody I know might have a new number not in the system yet. So, I'd like to give them a code to let it ring though when they call me from phones not on the white list. Anyone who doesn't know the code could still leave a message, unless on the blacklist. Now, finding phones that already do this combo of things would be difficult, so is there one that would allow me to program it myself ?

1. On a cell phone, this would presumably be an app. Is there any such app for Android 8.0 ?

2. On a home phone I imagine it would allow a flash drive which contains a list of settings to be edited on PC, and plugged back in. Does anything like this exist ?

My idea of what the params list would look like:

  • BLACKLIST_ACTION: 0 RINGS, HANG_UP
  • WHITELIST_ACTION: 6 RINGS, TAKE_MESSAGE
  • GREY_ACTION_WITH_CODE: 6 RINGS, TAKE_MESSAGE
  • GREY_ACTION_WITHOUT_CODE: 0 RINGS, TAKE_MESSAGE

I have a phone number from a different city. So, the area code and first 3 are not local and nobody I know has them. That gives me an advantage. I can easily block all calls that have my first 6 digits using any of a thousand or so call blockers. My wife had her number changed to one from another city and she does the same now. 135.84.167.41 (talk) 13:55, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's a common spoofing method where they fake the number to be close to the one they call. I'm guessing that's what you are trying to defeat. But many other SPAM calls come in from random numbers. SinisterLefty (talk) 15:35, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
