editLinking individual Reddit posts
editOn PC/laptop is there a way to link a particular post inside subreddit rather than the entire discussion thread? The button "share" and "copy link" weren't useful for me, as the url seemingly links to the thread's start. Thanks. 212.180.235.46 (talk) 17:14, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think that's possible considering the discussion thread is attached to the post. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:19, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- On the 'old' Reddit ([1]) (which I have set by default when logged in), you can use the permalink function for this e.g. [2]. On the new style reddit, you can use the share button for this, the share function should give a 'copy link' option which seems to do the same thing albeit with the addition of some tracking elements e.g. [3] (intentionally preserved the tracking elements). Note that the main post will be at the top and the relevant post will be below the main post perhaps even below a post higher up in the thread and your browser will not scroll to it even if it's not visible. But it will be highlighted and the rest of the thread is hidden. IMO it's clearer on the old style reddit compare e.g. [4] to [5] or [6] to [7]. If you want your browser to scroll to the particular highlighted post you could potentially use links to text fragments if you browser supports it although this will depend also on how people visit the links and you'd need to generate the links some way besides the standard Reddit UI AFAIK. - After the poster's name there is a (relative) time. That is a link. —Tamfang (talk) 21:34, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
