editArab artist
editWhich Arab artist of Egypt had a music video where he keep saying "Ma salama". In the video, he was injured and went to the hospital and at the end of the video, he was a police officer taking care of the traffic. It was shot in Egypt, like cairo. Does anybody know the video or the singer? I want to find it on the youtube. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.226.95.73 (talk) 01:33, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Hip-hop
editCan anyone recommend a website specifically dedicated to indie and underground hip-hop that you can listen to? Thanks. Whip it! Now whip it good! 02:10, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Will And Grace
editIn one of the episodes, the camera cuts to Karen sitting in a chair while Jack is singing in a bar, I think a gay bar, and sitting down in he seat next to her. They are at a bar table. The hit is sound originally by a female, probably around 1970's. What is this song and artist?68.148.149.184 (talk) 03:09, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Barring a surprise entrance by a hardcore Will and Grace fan -- certainly a possibility! -- I think your odds of getting an answer to this one aren't too good. If you could name the episode or quote some of the lyrics, you would probably have better luck. -- Captain Disdain (talk) 19:51, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- HOly crap/how ironic. I never new they had that (database). It'll take me some time to watch it, which i won't do anytime soon, i'm a fraide.68.148.149.184 (talk) 07:44, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Star Wars: A New Hope
editNear the end of the movie, as they are flying away from the soon to be exploding Death Star, there is 1)the Millennium Falcon, 2)Luke's X-Wing, 3)Wedge's X-Wing, and 4)UYW (Unidentified Y-Wing). Who the heck is this???
--MrE1 (talk) 06:44, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Good question. Looks like it was someone who is only named in the 'expanded universe'. According to this site it looks like it might be someone called Keyan Farlander, who was proably made up just to answer this question.Popcorn II (talk) 07:25, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'd second that analysis. The extra Y-Wing was likely added for non-plot reasons (for example, to make the shot more visually appealing, for balance or something like that) and the extra Y-Wing was later retconned to create a story-based reason for it. There are TONS of things like that in Star Wars; like aliens in the backgrounds of shots which Lucas likely had no reason to put in the film except as background visual interest, out of which entire storylines were created by later authors. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 19:04, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Note, humor follows...
- I believe that the pilot is credited in the film as "Lucky guy #2" 65.121.141.34 (talk) 20:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Menusha & The Girls
editTheir song "You boys (can boogie too)" seem to be fairly popular, and is widely used in b-boy videos. However, I have been unable to locate any information at all about the ensemble. Would anyone happen to know anything about them? decltype (talk) 06:52, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- oddly enough I couldn't find anything even at http://www.allmusic.com which is pretty canonical, but Google was of some help. You may find something using Google. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 18:59, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help. Yes, I have plowed through a huge number of google hits, without finding anything substantial. Which I find very odd, considering the (relative) popularity of the song. decltype (talk) 22:28, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I actually was looking for informations about this song too. Try Barry Künzel, Menusha and The Girls. There is a mp3-download on amazon.com.
Hey! Type in Menusha And the Girls, that should get you started
What is Fox News Channel's archival policy?
editNow, I don't watch Fox News, but I am curious what their archival policy is, such as what programming they preserve, what stuff they erase, and what method of archiving do they use (tape, hard drives, DVD-R, ect). Also, I'm curious if any outside archives make copies of their programming (I've already checked, the UCLA Film and Television Archive, plus the Paley Center for Media). Fanboys release date in UK
editI've looked on IMDb and the official site but can't find a release date for Fanboys for the UK. It's coming out in other European countries around now, and it's out on DVD in the states soon. Anyone know if it's going to get a UK release?Popcorn II (talk) 20:44, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- I dunno man, but i downloaded it this morning so it's out on the web at least —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.44.54.169 (talk) 13:12, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- According to this page Fanboys has so far taken in a bit over half a million dollars, on an outlay of around $4m. The producers may be intending to cut their losses and not release it anywhere else. DJ Clayworth (talk) 17:44, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
