May 9

edit

Can someone point me to the artist who did the cover that this video is parodying? I think it's catchy as heck, and I'd like to download it. I am of course not referring to the original by Sinatra. Magog the Ogre (talk) 03:17, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possibly the cover by Sid Vicious? The My Way (song) article discusses the many covers. Comet Tuttle (talk) 05:23, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is not. Magog the Ogre (talk) 13:27, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps Shane McGowan's version? --Cerebellum (talk) 14:28, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My word, check out Nina Hagen's version - what a voice!

The words might be a parody of the song My Way, but I don't think the music is My Way at all. Although really hard to hear over the words, some of the music early on reminded me of Dark Entries (a song by Bauhaus) but later it sounded like something else entirely. Astronaut (talk) 06:00, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It sounds like the Sex Pistols' cover (not Sid Vicious as said earlier). You have to ignore the Ronnie Biggs stuff at the start and wait until the boys start snarling after about 90 seconds I think. --TammyMoet (talk) 16:23, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
On the contrary, TammyMoet: that's a Sid Vicious vocal without the rest of the Sex Pistols. It was recorded after they split up. I know this because of the excellent Sex Pistols featured article which I was glad to see made the main page last week. But Magog the Ogre has already said he's not thinking of this version. Funny Youtube Video

edit

Okay, so, there's this video on Youtube that I have no CLUE what it's called, it's of this dude who is reenacting possibly a scene from the Outsiders, but I'm not sure, well, anyways, it got a bazillon hits on Youtube cause his acting, well, it wasn't very good. He later admitted that the whole video was just a joke, he lives in New York I think, and is a waiter. Anybody know what video this is? thanks. Moptopstyle1 ("I Feel Fine.") (talk) 04:23, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about doing a rough keyword search? If it's got millions of views, you can click on 'Browse' and the 'All time'. It might be on that page or one of the pages that follow. Chevymontecarlo. 04:42, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You aren't talking about wafflepwn are you? Dismas|(talk) 04:53, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I tried doing keyword searches before, it didn't help, and no, that link was not it. haha. It's just this guy with short brown or black hair, dressed up like Dally from The Outsiders talking all stupid, trying to put on an accent I guess. It was pretty ridiculous, but the dude's been on TV, I would just like to find the video. Moptopstyle1 ("I Feel Fine.") (talk) 06:46, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for a movie

edit

It's a science fiction movie at least 10 years old. All I can really remember is a giant spider-alien at the end (I think it might have been a human who turned into an alien). For some reason it seems kind of like a parody now (maybe not though), but Galaxy Quest definitely isn't it. 149.169.218.250 (talk) 06:04, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Starship Troopers (film)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.171.56.13 (talk) 09:46, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like the first Men in Black to me. It was a comedy, and a guy definitely turned into a big alien at the end (though, to be accurate, he was an alien all along wearing a human's flesh as a suit) 218.25.32.210 (talk) 06:03, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The link Men in Black (film) will take you to the movie's article, rather than to the one about the general Men in Black concept. 87.81.230.195 (talk) 14:48, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This would be Lost in Space (film). Thank you Nostalgia Critic! BioYu-Gi! (talk) 16:36, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it was Lost in Space! 149.169.84.149 (talk) 20:27, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Identify these Detective Conan episodes

edit

I recall watching some episodes of Detective Conan many years ago, but I can't recall some of the exact episodes I've watched. Among those I need help recalling are as follows:

  • An episode where the victim dies in an explosion while opening a box containing a bottle of wine.
  • An episode where Ran has sleeping pills put into her drink, and after Conan discovers her in the bathtub, she sees Shinichi's face as a hallucination.
  • An episode where Ran once again sees a hallucination of Shinichi when looking at Conan, this time kneeling down to kiss Conan (this occurred at or near the tail-end of the episode).
  • An episode where one of the victims is discovered after a fountain pool is drained.

All of the episodes I'm referring two are within the first four seasons (the first ~100 episodes), since all of the episodes I've watched come from that specific time frame. 128.2.247.136 (talk) 12:40, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't List of Case Closed episodes help (particularly the List of Case Closed episodes (season 1) and subsequent links)? Astronaut (talk) 05:40, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Upon reexamining the lists, I've been able to identify the episodes referred to in items 1, 2, and 4 above, but I still haven't identified item number 3 yet. (Note: I'm writing this from a different computer than before). 128.2.251.155 (talk) 06:26, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

magic: the gathering

edit

I've got some questions about "magic the gathering cards". One of my cards, Brimstone Mage, has a level up effect on it, printed next to 3 then the red symbol. does that mean you have to tap three red mana to level it up?

also, i've got Emrakul's hatcher, which , when introduced to the battle field, has three eldrazi spawn tokens with the "sacrifice this creature, add 1 to your mana pool". does sacrificing basically mean turning the eldrazi spawn into mana?

third, when i opened booster packs for the first time, i noticed there were some cards (one per pack) that had a larger picture of a creature, with no mana cost, but with attack and defense stats. are those legal to use, and since there's no printed mana cost, assuming it's legal, would it be able to be placed, without mana cost?

also, are any of these cards rare: thought gorger, devestating summons, heat ray, brimstone mage, Emrakul's hatcher, and vent sentinel?

thanks! Jds500 (talk) 20:02, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A circled 3 followed by a red-mana symbol - (3)(R) - means a cost of four mana total - one must be red, but the other three can be of any color, or even colorless - this part is called "generic" mana cost.
You can produce this mana tapping four mountains, for example, or tapping one mountain and sacrificing three Eldrazi Spawn tokens.
You don't "tap mana". LAND is not MANA. You tap lands to produce mana, which in the game is a kind of energy used to cast spells.
This is the same meaning the (2)(R) in Brimstone Mage's cost means. It means two mana of any color plus one red, not simply two red.
You are not "turning" the token into mana. You're using the tokens ability to produce mana. The ability's cost is to sacrifice the token; the ability's effect is producing one unit of colorless mana, which you can spend to pay for the generic part of mana costs of spells (like Brimstone Mage) or other abilities (like Level Up).
This special card with no mana cost and larger image is used to represent a token. You certainly will eventually find some of these cards named Eldrazi Spawn, with the "sacrifice: add (1) to your mana pool" ability. You don't use them in your deck, and can't use them as a "normal" card; they aren't considered legal Magic: the Gathering cards. You keep them separated until something (like Emrakul Hatcher) needs them.
You can say the rarity of a card by the color of the card's set symbol. A black symbol means common; silver, uncommon; gold, rare; orange, mythic rare. Both Devastating Summons and Thought Gorger are rares. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.255.9.38 (talk) 13:26, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Jds500 (talk) 16:42, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note that if you get hold of an older Magic card, all the set symbols are black, so you'll want to use a site like Gatherer to search the card name to determine whether it's a rare, uncommon, or common. Comet Tuttle (talk) 17:35, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
