editMusic Video by Big and Rich
editWhat is the name of the girl who played the manniquin in the music video "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" by Big and Rich. She has recorded a country song herself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill2345bill (talk • contribs) 02:20, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- There's an article about the song: "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)", which says that Gretchen Wilson appears in the video. --Canley (talk) 02:45, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Do They Know It's Christmas? performers
editRef this version of the video, who are the performers:
- playing guitars at 1:48
doing a very camp dance, between George Michael and Paul Young at 1:56 (he's quite prominent in the video, so I assume I'll smack my forehead when someone answers this because he must have been huge at the time)- at 2:29 whose backs we see / the one clapping them on the back (Kool and the Gang?)
- walking toward camera at 2:30 (Jody Watley?)
walking across the shot at 2:31-2:32- close up, with dangly earrings at 2:39 (Jody again?)
- over Sting's shoulder at 2:42 (other side from George Michael)
signing an autograph at 2:48 (is that Paul Weller?)- guy in the black shirt at 3:19
chap with a bird of prey on his head at 3:36- cat in the hat at 3:38
Lots of 80s nostalgia. My vote for best/worst 80s hairstyle in the vid goes to the middle one of Bananarama at 2:28. Even by 80s standards, that's gruesome. --Dweller (talk) 09:27, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- I've got some of them. 1 is Gary Kemp, plus another on his left? 2 might possibly be Glenn Gregory. 5 is Marilyn. I think 8 is Martin Kemp but I'm not sure. 9 might be Gregory's Heaven 17 colleague Martyn Ware. 10 is Nick Rhodes out of Duran Duran. --Viennese Waltz 09:43, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Re 1, you can see the guitarists more clearly at 2:03. Looks like Jon Moss out of Culture Club to Kemp's right and John Taylor out of Duran Duran to his left. --Viennese Waltz 10:11, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Confirm 2 is Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17. 8 is either Marilyn or Tony Hadley. I think the two girls at 2:30 - 32 are Salt N Pepa, or could be Pepsi and Shirlie. --TammyMoet (talk) 11:02, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry but 8 is definitely not Marilyn or Hadley. It certainly looks like Martin Kemp to me. I'm not sure what you mean by "the two girls at 2:30-2:32" either, there is only one girl (as the OP says, probably Jody Watley) and one bloke (Marilyn) at that point, in separate shots. --Viennese Waltz 11:22, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
OP again. Jon Moss is not playing guitar. You can see him on a couple of occasions in the video (eg 3:31) wearing blue. I think 8 must be Weller, based on his clothes. --Dweller (talk) 11:55, 10 December 2012 (UTC) Thanks for all the replies so far. I'll strike the ones that seem to be identified. --Dweller (talk) 11:56, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, yes there are three people playing guitar at 1:48. From left to right they are Geldof, Gary Kemp and (I think) John Taylor. I am certain 8 is not Weller. --Viennese Waltz 13:14, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Roger Taylor - Duran Duran
- Glenn Gregory - Heaven 17
- I think it's Dennis Thomas (Kool & the gang) with his hand on Robert 'Kool' Bell's back? I assume the other would be James Taylor making the full "Kool and the gang"
- Again, I think it's Jody Watley
- Marylin
- Definitely Jody this time.
Martyn Ware (Heaven 17)Simon Crowe (Boomtown Rats) (unless you mean the guy in the blue who I think is Jon Moss from Culture club)Hard to tell, but Paul Weller seems right. Certainly not Martin Kemp who was in grey on the dayper discussion below, perhaps Chris Cross (Ultravox)- Black shirt with grey jacket is Martyn Ware
again - Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran)
- Andy Taylor (Duran Duran)
- That's my thoughts... based on clothes from [1] this picture and a bit of research WormTT(talk) 13:25, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- 7 and 9 are two different people, they can't both be Martyn Ware. I'm fairly sure 9 is Ware and 7 is Simon Crowe out of the Boomtown Rats (compare this photo). Re 8, see this still. No way is that Weller. --Viennese Waltz 13:44, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Aha, perhaps 8 is Chris Cross (Ultravox) per that still. Looking again, I agree, 7 is Simon Crowe. he's behind Marylin my pic. WormTT(talk) 13:51, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- It's not Chris Cross. --Viennese Waltz 19:44, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

- I think all of the above are probably correct, but who's the bloke next to Simon LeBon at 1:50? Looks vaguely familiar. --Michig (talk) 21:58, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Pen? Journalist. Journalist mentioned in our article? Robin Eggar. does this look like the same bloke +c.25 years? --Dweller (talk) 22:30, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Could be. --Michig (talk) 10:40, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

- 1 is not Roger Taylor, who is in fact the drummer for Duran Duran. It is actually John Taylor on the right, the bass player for the same band. 10draftsdeep (talk) 18:01, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I said that before and then WTT changed it to Roger Taylor without saying why. --Viennese Waltz 08:40, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Spelling Bee
editI was on a show called spelling be. It was hosted by Ed Whalen and was on in the 1980's. Why can't I find any history on this?
- Certainly it existed, see the clip here. I had a quick look on the internet and I found a few passing references, but nothing major. In answer to your question, the reason there is not much history about it is simply that no-one has yet written it. --Viennese Waltz 15:01, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

editIn the playstation 2 "Dancing with the stars" game, is "Por Una Cabeza""Por Una Cabeza" one of the songs?Curb Chain (talk) 16:14, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Why is it this way?
editAll the Final Destination movies were shot in Canada but set in the United States. Why are the stories set in the U.S. while filmed in a foreign country?.Keeeith (talk) 18:15, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- To put it simply, money. Mingmingla (talk) 19:33, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Plus, I should add Canada may foreign, but it's not that foreign (point of view, by the way. I'm Canadian, so it's the US that's foreign). Same language, similar democraphics. It's easy to mock up a US setting with those conditions at a better price. Mingmingla (talk) 19:38, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- Similar geography, architecture, demographics, and cheaper costs. The End. i kan reed (talk) 21:53, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
- See Cinema of Canada, or even moreso Hollywood North for some background. Lots of U.S. films and TV shows are shot (in part or in whole) in Canada. Toronto frequently stands in for New York City, for example (similar architecture up close, so it's easy to shoot location shots for New York in Toronto, and cheaper to do so than in New York itself). In North America, Toronto ranks third in terms of the filming (after LA and NY respectively). --Jayron32 02:57, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
