Motion picture theme song

edit

What was The first Singing Opening theme song in a motion picture. Like the James Bond themes songs. I have found the best, but not the very first one. Can you help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GaryLaster2002 (talkcontribs) 09:37, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean singing as distinguished from instrumentals? Or just music of any kind? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:56, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since they said "Singing opening theme song", I'm guessing they mean "Singing opening theme song", like in Goldfinger. StuRat (talk) 01:06, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There were probably several musical films that had singing during the opening credits, most often one of the featured songs from the musical, but not necessarily a specific opening theme song, however. The examples that come across immediately in my head are the musical films Singin' in the Rain and Meet Me in St. Louis, where the title song is sung during the opening credits. I also remember When You Wish upon a Star being sung during the opening credits of Disney's Pinocchio. So again, it depends on what's your definition of "Singing Opening theme song". Zzyzx11 (talk) 06:30, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That takes us back to 1940 at least. Nearly every sound picture ever made has some kind of instrumental beginning. Finding the very first one with a vocal track could be a challenge. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots12:45, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looking just at the category "1930 films", here's a cartoon from 1930 that has a song over the opening credits:[3]Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots12:49, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sales figures of the Megadrive/Genesis in various countries

edit

Hello! I am interested in finding the sales figures of the Sega Genesis/Sega Megadrive in various countries. They include:

PAL

  • United Kingdom and/or Ireland
  • South Africa (and/or Namibia or other English-speaking countries in southern Africa)
  • Hong Kong
  • India and/or Pakistan
  • Nigeria and/or Ghana
  • Kenya and/or Tanzania and other English-speaking East African countries using PAL
  • EDIT: Australia and/or New Zealand and/or Pacific islands

NTSC

  • Philippines
  • Mexico and/or Spanish-speaking countries in central America (possibly to subtract from "North America" sales figures if those include Mexico and/or Central America)

If anyone knows of good sources, please let me know

Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 23:29, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Australia, Korea, India, a final total for EU, and the third party manufacturers are all elusive.--SexyKick 04:10, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
