editHelene Deschamps -- The original Bond girl???
editFor those who've seen the movie Goldeneye: you probably remember that when James Bond met Jack Wade at St. Petersburg airport, his password was "In London, April is a spring month", and Wade's response (which he refused to say) was supposed to be "While in St. Petersburg, we're freezing our butts off!" What struck me, though, is this password's similarity to the one used by Helene Deschamps Adams on her final reconnaissance mission on the Jura Plateau: her password was "Such bad weather", and the response was "For the past week". Which begs the question: Did Ian Fleming know her personally, and did her password influence his own choice of passwords for Goldeneye? 24.23.196.85 (talk) 00:52, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- If so, it wouldn't have been Ian Fleming. GoldenEye was the first James Bond film to use no plot elements from any of Fleming's Bond stories. --Jayron32 00:54, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- The only similarity is that they are comments about the weather, and since comments about the weather are normal in casual encounters they are ideal candidates for passwords intended to identify someone you have never met. They seem to be the norm in spy movies.--Shantavira|feed me 08:27, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, Dr. No was the first not based on Ian Flemming's writings; also Ion Fleming, Yan Filming and Charles Dickens. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:31, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
What is the longest series of movies?
editSTar Trek has 11 movies in the franchise with another one coming up soon. What movie series has the most number of sequels? James Bond?
99.250.103.117 (talk) 03:42, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Bond is at 25 now, so clearly more than Star Trek. I'm still looking for a source, but I do believe that is the most films for one franchise. Still looking for confirmation. --Onorem♠Dil 03:45, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Afterthought with no source again. If you include pornographic films, Bond is likely destroyed by several themed series of movies. --Onorem♠Dil 03:47, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- The Three Mesquiteers and Carry On (film series) (never heard of either) seem to have Bond beat. Still looking. --Onorem♠Dil 03:51, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Wow. I never thought I'd come across anyone who'd never heard of the Carry On films. But logically it had to happen eventually, and I guess that time has now come. I don't know whether that says more about your age, or mine. Perhaps I'm closer to being carried off than I thought. :) -- Jack of Oz [Talk] 07:36, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- I'm guessing it's more about my age and side of the pond. I was nearly 5 years away from having what didn't come in off the rabbit ears when the series ended. --Onorem♠Dil 16:43, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure which side of the pond that is, as I'm in a different pool entirely. Have you ever heard of an obscure British band called The Beatles? -- Jack of Oz [Talk] 20:11, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- I was aware of your location. The phrase and context make it clear so at this point I have no interest in continuing the discussion. How the Beatles are remotely related, I have no clue. --Onorem♠Dil 04:35, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to explain, but you're not interested in continuing, which is entirely your prerogative. -- Jack of Oz [Talk] 06:07, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Wow. In spite of my age, there are several characters/movies that I have not only heard of but have also seen (Carry On movies were certainly entertaining)! Then again, there are some I have never heard of. Of the several I have heard of (eg Charlie Chan, Rin Tin Tin), I had no idea there were so many of them! Thanks everyone. Now I will sleep better tonight! lol 99.250.103.117 (talk) 01:43, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Chronologically, there were about 70 movies in the original 黃飛鴻 film series, making it the longest series of movies worldwide. (for now) Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 07:16, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Nsync CD single - rare or collectable?
editI have an Nsync promotional CD of This I Promise You and at the top it says "Barbie #1 fan". It seems to be a tie-in with the Barbie #1 fan doll. Is it rare or collectable and worth anything? (I looked on eBay and googled, but didn't find this exact one.) Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 22:29, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- What you talkin' bout, Willis? Doll and CD in unopened package offered for $24.99. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:37, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks - yes, that is the CD, so it has no significant value. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:55, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
