editCar drives off jetty and lands on garbage barge
editIn Homer the Heretic, Homer is being pursued by Ned Flanders, who is keen on bringing Homer back to church. Homer drives his car off the end of a jetty, and lands on a garbage barge, slowly trolling up the river, much to Ned's chagrin. This is obviously a reference to an 80s movie. I distinctly remember this scene from the original movie but cannot for the life of me remember *which* movie it is from? Thanks everyone!! 59.167.253.199 (talk) 13:34, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Not quite the same, but The Ladykillers (2004 film) features all the antagonists falling or being dropped, dead, into a trash barge as it passes under a bridge. StuRat (talk) 13:44, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- White Lightning (1973 film) has something similar. Formula 51 postdates the Simpsons episode but also has this scene. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:03, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Perhaps See No Evil, Hear No Evil, in which they drive a police car into a garbage barge. It predates the episode by a few years and could be the impetus for the joke. 209.149.113.5 (talk) 16:42, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
- Yep, it's See No Evil, Hear No Evil! At least, that's where I remember that scene from. Thanks! 59.167.253.199 (talk) 09:15, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
