What breed is Onslow's dog ?

edit

Irish Wolfhound resting

In Keeping Up Appearances. Pic: [1] (scroll down). An Irish Wolfhound maybe ? I'd like to add this to the article(s), if we can determine the breed. Also, Onslow refers to the dog as female. Is this dog actually female (if we can tell from the head alone) ? StuRat (talk) 18:05, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This item (which looks a guess) says Scottish deerhound.[2]Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots02:31, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
StuRat Your searches probably have come up as empty as mine; since the same question has been raised before without any conclusive answer. However, I tend to agree with your guess that it must be an Irish Wolfhound, since regardless the search images that comes up for the breed, the point of the dog in the series was that it appear to be disheveled and unkempt. That being said, I really do not think one can definitively say the breed without a reliable source, unfortunately. Maineartists (talk) 03:34, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so far. Anyone else ? StuRat (talk) 16:20, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly a crossbreed, such as a lurcher of some sort, or a mongrel? --Jayron32 16:53, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it could be a Portuguese Sheepdog or a Catalan Sheepdog to me. Certainly the face and facial hair remind me more of some kind of sheepdog. But given the fact that it belongs to Onslow, it's probably a mongrel which was sold as some exotic breed! --TammyMoet (talk) 12:26, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, all. Unfortunately, it looks like we lack enough agreement and sources to update the article at this time. StuRat (talk) 16:07, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
