1980s and 1990s

I was responsible for asking a question about a year ago I think about a "people section" used in previous decades 1970s 1960s and below. When I asked about actors/entertainers and musicians and bands for those mentioned in 1970s 1960s and below I asked why there weren't any for 1980s and 1990s. As soon as I asked that question a lot of stuff has happened to those articles. Party of Five: Seasons 3, 4, 5, 6 & the complete series not on Region 2 DVD

Why did Sony only released the first 2 seasons of the 1994-2000 Fox series Party of Five on Region 2 DVD? 86.134.123.138 (talk) 22:21, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

They didn't tell me anything. I've contacted the Sony DVD manufacturer company Sony DADC by email and asked them to release the last 4 seasons or the complete series on Region 2 but they've never replyed in days or weeks. 86.134.123.138 (talk) 19:55, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

[Edit Conflict] I think it unlikely that the disc manufacturer would have any role whatever in deciding what shows to release in what regions, any more than a (modern) printer would decide for themselves what and where books should be published. Sony would therefore probably be unsure whether or how to reply to such a query.

In both cases the decision would rest with a work's Publisher (for books) or Production Companies and/or Distributors (for DVDs). The show in question's Production Companies and Distributor are listed in its article's infobox, and linked to Wikipedia articles about them: they should also be listed on the packaging of the DVDs already released (though quite likely in unreadably small type). {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.203.117.240 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:51, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Because all the seasons and the full series are released on regions 1 & 4, the complete box set has the 44 minute documentary "Party of Five: A Family Album" and Owen played by Jacob Smith in the 5th & 6th seasons is adorable. 86.134.123.138 (talk) 14:13, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

I'm sure there's lots of shows that have complete releases in Region 2 that have few if any episodes available in Region 1. Releases available in one region are not necessarily indicative of what should be released in other regions. But the bottom line is, Wikipedia in general and this Reference desk in particular is not the place to campaign for releases of DVDs. Contact the rights holders. Or you could buy the equipment needed to play and view Region 1 discs. --Khajidha (talk) 12:42, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
