Sochi Olympics: Which usa supreme court justices went there?

edit

I want to know which, if any United States supreme court justices went to the Sochi Olympics.Rich (talk) 16:23, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Consider that the official delegations to the opening and closing ceremonies were headed by the former Secretary of homeland security and the Deputy Secretary of State, probably none. Rmhermen (talk) 19:04, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well i didn’t know about the official delegation, thanks. But I had originally wondered if a justice pr two had attended as a ordinary tourist. Would that have been possible?Rich (talk) 05:12, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I find it incredibly unlikely. It seems probable the justices weren't sitting at the time (per 2013 term opinions of the Supreme Court of the United States) albeit attending the 2014 Winter Olympics closing ceremony would likely have been very tight. However the justices are generally on a sort of break for most of the US summer [1] [2]. While this is not a complete holiday as those sources mention, I'm fairly sure it means that except for actual holidays (like Christmas etc), going on holiday to the Olympic games while the court is simply in short recess between sittings is likely to be fairly controversial. However they could probably occasionally attend most of the Summer Olympics with less controversy. (NB am I the only one to feel Procedures of the Supreme Court of the United States#Terms and sittings, Supreme Court of the United States#Process or Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States could be a little clearer on what happens between late June/early July to the beginning of October?) Nil Einne (talk) 11:41, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That’s a really good point about the dates, thanks. Would those dates also preclude Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch from attending?-Weren’t they appellant federal judges back then, so would they have a different work calendar from that of the supreme court?Rich (talk) 07:21, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Since the U.S. officially snubbed the Russians because of their enforcement of anti-gay rights laws, it would have been newsworthy if any high-ranking judges attended independently. Rmhermen (talk) 20:14, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A question on a parody relevance

edit

A song has been parodied. Is it worth a mention in the article?

Please comment at Talk:The Elements (song)#Drugs song. --CiaPan (talk) 20:31, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A parody of a parody? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:09, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It should only be mentioned in the article if that is supported by independent reliable sources.--Shantavira|feed me 15:07, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think if you have to ask, then, no. Richard Avery (talk) 10:03, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What hospital is used on God Friended Me?

edit

In recent episodes of the U.S. TV series God Friended Me a large hospital has been shown for exterior shots. New York City hospitals are overwhelmed by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic in New York City, so every time I see that hospital it makes me wonder what is going on there.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 22:22, 8 April 2020 (UTC).[reply]

@Vchimpanzee: Not sure what hospital it is, but note that the show (and many others) is not currently in production, so what you are seeing was filmed before the pandemic: [3] RudolfRed (talk) 01:42, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The question has nothing to do with the show. The hospital is shown at 2:26 here. I assume it is a real hospital treating real patients at this time, and if the hospital is being mentioned in any news coverage, I want to know which one it is.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:07, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I came up with an idea. Turns out Wikipedia has a simple list of hospitals in the city, and I checked the photos where there were photos. This is the hospital in the video I linked to, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. I'm sure of it.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:33, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
