editHow much is an Olympic host allowed to alter the velodrome or athletics stadium to aid the host or all teams?
editIn 2012 they tried to make records easier by architecturizing the velodrome to help the very slight counterclockwise wind caused by bikers pushing air out of the way. This would increase groundspeed for a given airspeed and help all teams and world records, but not enough for the UCI to ban. They also closed the racing hall doors to increase the tiny counterclockwise wind a tiny percent but only when GBR was racing which is unfair but so extremely minor that no one cared. So what is the limit? Could they put excessive amounts of doors in the wall between spectators and track and open them when the host isn't racing? Could they build a stadium with airlocks and depressurize it an equal amount for everyone? How much? If a high-altitude state ever gets the games again and depressurizes their stadium slightly to moderately that could help high-altitude states non-trivially above the natural home air density advantage, even though the oxygen is the same for all athletes.
