editLaw enforcement technique
editHi there, what is the exact name of this technique? Thanks, --Mateus2019 (talk) 17:19, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- Arm twisting, a form of pain compliance, sometimes abused as a form of torture with plausible deniability. --Lambiam 13:27, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
- This sort of armlock (combined with a wristlock) is derived from Aikido, a Japanese martial art. See Aikido: A "Gentle" Art Adapts to Law Enforcement; "Pain is used to gain compliance, but the risk of injury to the suspect is minimal, thus reducing any basis for claims of police brutality".
