editEcevit
editThere is an article on the Persian WP with the subject of Persian elements in Turkish. Could anyone please inform me about the etymology of the Istanbul Turkish word "Ecevit" (Turkish: [edʒeˈvit])? It appears, for instance, in the family name of Bülent Ecevit, former PM of Turkey. I am aware of the origin of his first name, "Bülent" (Turkish: [byˈlænt]), which has been burrowed from Persian: بلند (Persian pronunciation: [boˈlænd]). I did not find the name's etymology here on this website as well. Thank you in advance. Hamid Hassani (talk) 22:02, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
