Geometry through vectors

edit

oprove vectorically that the diagonals of a rectangle are equal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deepak pandey mj (talkcontribs) 15:16, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like homework, but, to give you a start, call two adjacent sides a and b, then express the other sides and the diagonals in terms of these vectors. I assume that the question should have said prove that the diagonals are equal in length (modulus) because they are not equal as vectors. Dbfirs 18:01, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming "Mersenne twister" article to "Mersenne Twister"

edit

Hello!

As most academic sources (see http://google.com/search?q=mersenne+twister&tbm=bks and http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=mersenne+twister ) capitalise its second word, I tried moving the "Mersenne twister" article to "Mersenne Twister" but got

You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reason:

The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid.

Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask an administrator to help you with the move.

Could an admin please help?

Thanks, cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 18:42, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

cmglee has opened a move request on the appropriate talk page at Talk:Mersenne twister#Requested move 6 March 2015 -- ToE 23:38, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note that the "page of that name" that already exists is just a redirect to the article in question. As a non-registered user I can't move pages at all, but I would have thought that that case would be treated specially and the existence of the redirect would not block the move. --70.49.169.183 (talk) 05:17, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is handled specially, but only if the redirect page has never been edited after its creation. This one was edited by a bot. It would be nice if they relaxed the rule to "no non-bot edits". -- BenRG (talk) 07:13, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If this was clearly uncontroversial, it could have been handled by submitting a technical move request request to WP:RMTR. cmglee's choice of opening a standard move proposal is a good path, as the subject had not been raised on the article's discussion page before, and the move will now happen in one week if no argument against it materializes. -- ToE 14:49, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
