editCustom warning signs
editWhere can I get custom hazard symbols made for me (within 30 miles or so of San Jose)? 2601:646:8E01:7E0B:9559:4F0F:AF97:BC2A (talk) 07:52, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- If it's not obscure enough it might not even need to be custom. i.e. you can buy lion crossing signs. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 08:09, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- Well, I need to combine several in one, so it does have to be custom. 2601:646:8E01:7E0B:9559:4F0F:AF97:BC2A (talk) 08:46, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- "Sign engraving" would be a good search term for Yellow Pages etc. I make signs like these, using a laser engraver, many people use rotary engravers. The material is typically a multi-layered plastic laminate, of two colours. I find the DIN 4844-2 warning signs SVG signs from Commons to be very useful for this. Main Battle Tank
editIs it true that T-72 tanks gun can't be elevated more than 15 degrees? If true, is it a major failure comparing with Western tanks? 188.247.78.222 (talk) 19:12, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- Do you see anything about that in the T-72 article? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 19:52, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
I read the article long time ago but I didn't find any info about that issue. 213.186.182.25 (talk) 06:46, 30 November 2017 (UTC) Sorry I`ve read it again and I found this sentence : ((....due to the limited positive elevation....)) but I want to know how much negative is that limitation in gun elevation .213.186.182.25 (talk) 07:54, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Prob'ly not that big a deal, because tanks mostly use direct fire anyway. 2601:646:8E01:7E0B:9559:4F0F:AF97:BC2A (talk) 10:32, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- Unless you want to shoot uphill I suppose. Nothing reliable online for this as far as I can tell. Alansplodge (talk) 23:19, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
Being unable to shoot uphill is the reason why Syrians lost hundreds of T-62s in the 1973 war, the same problem existed in the older designs. 188.247.79.247 (talk) 04:02, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- Good point, although I couldn't find a source which says exactly that. The poor elevation and depression in Soviet tanks was due to their obsession with keeping both the hull and the turret as low as possible. Armoured vehicle crew were said to be selected to be under 1.7 m (5 ft 7 in) so that they could squeeze into their tanks, whereas the British Household Cavalry didn't accept anybody shorter than 5 ft 9 in. Thanks alot. 46.32.121.166 (talk) 14:45, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- All main battle tanks are limited in that because the main cannon usually reaches back inside the vehicle where it is loaded. At the same time they are constructed as flat as they can be so there is only limited space for tilting. --Kharon (talk) 23:37, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
