wikis

hi i need help finding a wiki with slightly less users than wikipedia and simple english wikipedia any help? thanks. not saying i dont like wikipedia i just need help finding new wikis. Raspinn61 (talk) 00:59, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Raspinn61 "Wiki" is just a kind of software. We have a list of wiki-based sites here. Why you'd want to find random non-Wikipedia wikis is none of my business, but it does make me curious. Why would you want a site with fewer users? Surely it would make more sense to pursue a specific interest or something? Matt Deres (talk) 01:50, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Wikia is a wiki hosting website. They host hundreds (if not thousands) of wikis. Many of them have zero users. Some have just one. While you can argue that technically all of Wikia is one big wiki, it is clearly divided into many independent wikis where users don't jump from one wiki to another. 209.149.113.5 (talk) 16:24, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

It is possible, but it is a lot of work, put in the software, add all the extensions, create the basic configuration, set up users, set up templates, make some rules about how it will be used, then you can create some content. My webhost apparently offers MediaWiki (as well as Wordpress and whatnot), so I could make a wiki on my own site if I had a good reason to do so. —Tamfang (talk) 07:43, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

A type of extant giraffe alive today not mentioned in Wikipedia.

I have seen a giraffe in Kenya called a Rockefeller(?). It has a long black "stocking" on its legs. Possible only the two fore legs. Why is it not mentioned in the topic of giraffe in the Wikipedia? HENRY9504 (talk) 23:13, 2 August 2018 (UTC) Roger Henry

Or if you mean a specific individual giraffe that we should mention, the advice would be as follows. If he or she is suitably notable, they should have their own article. We have lots of animals with articles on Wikipedia, including 6 giraffes. If he or she isn't notable (I refer you again to our definition that I linked), they shouldn't. Either way, I can't imagine why we would name them in our article on giraffes, any more than we ought to name Iggy Pop on our article on humans. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 09:32, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

If there were only six notable humans, that would be a valid comparison. With only six individually notable giraffes (actually, five, Victor the Giraffe redirects to Marwell Zoo), it probably makes sense to list them in the giraffe article somewhere. Matt Deres (talk) 14:21, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
