I was wondering if the F.W. Woolworth Company sold items to raise money for the RMS Titanic disaster relief efforts. Did they also sell maneki nekos in their stores? How about ladybug-themed items? Anyone know?2603:7000:8100:F444:74B5:9B38:42BF:FDD5 (talk) 04:09, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This history of Woolworth's only mentions that Frank Woolworth was not deterred by the disaster from crossing the Atlantic shortly afterwards. Alansplodge (talk) 15:20, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Alcohol serving rights

edit

In Finland there are three classes of alcohol serving rights in restaurants.

  • Class C: Beer, cider and other low-alcohol beverages only.
  • Class B: Also includes wine but not high-alcohol distilled beverages.
  • Class A: Full alcohol serving rights.

Is there a Wikipedia article where these could be listed? JIP | Talk 04:09, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That kind of thing is likely to vary by jurisdiction. Legal drinking age might lead you to some further info. --←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots06:38, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would say Liquor licence is a more suitable article. Maybe also Alcohol law which includes brief mention of Alko but nothing about serving rights. In the long term it may be useful to have a more detailed article covering the full details for Finland like we have for some other countries but not for only these details. In America alone, it varies by state. Often I've seen beer and wine sold in grocery stores (sometimes only at certain times of day), while hard liquor is sold in separate stores. --←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots07:07, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We do have List of alcohol laws of the United States although I'm not sure a table was the best decision for the content or at least the notes section was the best way to handle additional information. The Alcohol law#United States 5 perhaps provides an okay summary given the complexities. Liquor licence#United States I'm not so sure, and I'd also note there's no interwiki links between the licence article and the US law list one despite the overlap. Or county. Or even city. I live near the border between two counties. One of them is "dry" (no alcohol sales at all) except for the county seat. --User:Khajidha (talk) (contributions) 12:11, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I interpret JIP's query to relate specifically to an article about Finland, rather than to a more general listing, and therefore suggest that these facts (suitably referenced) could usefully be added to Finnish cuisine#Beverages. The question was about any article, whether general or Finland-specific, where the alcohol serving rights classes in Finland could be listed. JIP | Talk 11:35, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Liquor licence looks like a suitable article, especially considering the Finnish article fi:anniskelulupa (literally "licence to serve [alcohol]") is already linked to it. I will just have to add a section about liquor licences in Finland. JIP | Talk 18:41, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a section about liquor licences in Finland to the article liquor licence, translated from fi:anniskelulupa. JIP | Talk 18:35, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is also alcohol law, which has some country-specific articles linked to it. I kinda feel like this stuff should be brought together into one central set of articles, but a discussion would be needed to come up with the best organization scheme. --47.155.96.47 (talk) 22:52, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
