editBrunner syndrome and diet
editIt is well known that people taking MAOIs need to monitor their diet or else they could risk serious health problems. People with Brunner syndrome are naturally deficient in MAO(A). So my question is do people with Brunner syndrome need to monitor their diet too? It is a rare condition but I'm curious. Andrea Carter (at your service | my good deeds) 01:58, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
- I found a reference describing dietary modifications [1] (It's one of only five for Brunner syndrome in PubMed, though there is a much larger body of research on monoamine oxidase) Unfortunately I don't have access to this presently, but the abstract mentions "dietary modifications". If you'd like you can ask at WP:RX and someone may mail you a copy. Wnt (talk) 14:26, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
- They're proposing dietary modification as therapy for Brunner syndrome. I don't know if it is the same thing as MAOI-food/drug interactions but it is interesting. There seems to be no "treatment" section on the article. Andrea Carter (at your service | my good deeds) 20:18, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
