Wikipedia:Requested articles/New process - August 2013

This is a summary of a proposal on the Requested Articles talk page. For reference, mentions of RA stand for 'Requested Articles'.

What is going to happen?

Where requests are to be made

Hopefully, we will have a higher page monitored by editors (we would need a list of participants), which they will either approve, and move into an appropriate category, or have a bot do it. They declined requests will be moved into a page, e.g. 'Declined July 2013', where they will be left. If the editor feels that the request could be created, they will move it, and improve the nomination by adding sources.

What requesters will be asked to do

Write down the page name, preferably with sources and a short statement, but not obligatory.

Accepted requests

If an editor feels that there is scope to create an article, based on a request, the editor will:

• Put {{tick}} in front of the request
• Add sources and/or helpful comments to the request, based on the editor's knowledge and research on the request.
• Move the request to the correct subpage.

Possibly, the relevant WikiProjects will help out on their subpage: refining the request, if necessary, and creating new articles.

Declined requests

If an editor feels a request won't lead to a new article (one already exists; the topic is already part of an article; the subject is not notable; etc.), the editor will:

• Put {{cross}} in front of ithe request.
• Copy the submission to an archive related to the category the request is in; such as 'Wikipedia:Requested articles:Sports/July 2013'.

Archival

A bot (if one can be created) will move requests that have been inactive for a certain length of time, it will be archived.
