Ulanqab Stadium, etc.

I just found out that User:Sir Sputnik has prodded a large number of Chinese stadiums. I deprodded and expanded quite a few of them, but the ones listed above have already been deleted. These are massive stadiums which can accommodate tens of thousands of spectators, and most have hosted major sports teams or important events. It's ridiculous to claim they're not notable just because there aren't many English sources available. For the ones I've rescued, I've easily found Chinese sources and expanded the articles. See Shuangliu Sports Centre, Xilingol Sports Center, Qujing Cultural and Sports Park, etc. See also discussion on my talk page. Hi.

I'm Masoud Abadi, the creator of the page titled Arash Hosseini, who is a precious link in the history of laser tag in Iran. As the chairman of laser tag in Iran and its founder, as well as a national champion and TedX speaker, Mr. Hosseini is well worth being viewed by lovers of laser tag around the world. Maybe his page was not a supermagnet interms of clicks, his role as a leading figure in e treme sports may not be neglected.

I hope this page will be restored back to "published or visible" as soon as possible.

With kind regards, Masoud Abadi

I'm going to restore this for a full deletion discussion which you can find at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arash Hosseini, but I'll warn you that at present it doesn't comply at all with Wikipedia's policies—you need to provide independent sources to demonstrate that he's considered noteworthy. At present, aside from his qualifications (which probably shouldn't be listed in any event), the only citations are to his own websites. ‑ Iridescent 12:36, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

This article was written after extensive research and checking by wikipedia editors following a proposal sent to me to be published in Wikipedia because of my achievements and career. Th editor was Brad Arquette of Wikipedia services: and research and editing services were paid for. All facts in the article are correct. I notice that the G5 criteria was applied - which is a 'banned user'. I am hoping that I have not been a victim of a scam in which money is extracted to publish in wikipedia ? Can you please let me knwo the reasons for this deletion ? charles j. doyle — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.254.188.224 (talk) 10:06, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Paid editors have to provide a disclosure. Many that ask for money to put an article on Wikipedia have been part of scams. They may make false representations about what they can put on Wikipedia. You are correct in that the G5 means that the article writer was banned. The G11 means that the page was completely promotional. The editor that wrote the page, JohnStannie, was blocked as a sock puppet of another user, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Stoubora. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 14:30, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Haitianism

The reason provided was "G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.itsabouttimebpp.com/Announcements/pdf/The_Ha%C3%AFtian_Revolution.pdf", G12 isn't applicable as the "copyright infringement" is actually a mirror of Wikipedia —Appah Rao (talk) 21:56, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

@Primefac: and @Sphilbrick: you're the deleter and nominator of this as G12. Would you please comment? That source sort of looks like a copy of a Wikipedia article to me. ~Anachronist (talk) 00:05, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Perhaps, but that leads to other questions.

First, I do a fair amount of copyright investigation using the tool Copypatrol. That tool has, I believe, incorporated a list of known mirrors and forks to help avoid such false positives. This attribute is both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing for the obvious reason that it won't identify matches to known mirrors and forks. The curse is slightly more complicated. Before I used that tool, when I did copyright investigation, it was SOP to think about whether it could be a mirror or fork. Once the tool incorporated that knowledge, there still a large number of things to consider but thinking about mirrors and forks is not as high on the priority list. It looks to me like the site is not in this list: Wikipedia:Mirrors and forks/Ghi. I don't raise this to suggest that it is not a mirror or fork, rather the opposite — if it is one, it should be added to the list.

As one other small piece of relevant information, I look at hundreds of potential copyright issues each week and one thing I've noticed in the last week is an increasing prevalence of issues involving Haiti. That helped me to quickly reach the conclusion this was yet another problem, although it may be that some of those other instances may need to be revisited. I'm not sure whether it is simply a coincidence that there have been so many copyright issues involving Haiti recently.

I mentioned other questions. You are the author who created that article. Are you telling me that you created it by copying from Wikipedia and didn't mention it? I do see that you are relatively new to Wikipedia, so perhaps you are unaware that while it is acceptable to incorporate information from other articles, it must be done in a particular way to preserve attribution, as well as to be open and clear about how the article is constructed.

That guideline can be found here:Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia.

If it is simply a copy from an existing article (I briefly looked for it and didn't find it but I assume it exists somewhere) the easiest next step is to re-create the article and include the proper language indicating where it's copied from. If it was mostly a copy but there was some other editing going on, it may be better to restore this one and then figure out how to get the proper attribution comments into the history. Can you start by identifying the article that it was copied from? Then we can figure out what the best next steps are. --S Philbrick(Talk) 00:37, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello and thanks for your polite answer, this is something I found out to be incredibly difficult to encounter. So yes, there was a section, the 'background' if I'm not mistaken, imported from the Haitian Revolution article that by chance was out there on the internet, that would be easily checked as there is wikilinks and even the wikipedia infobox on it. The article would continue into the subject but sleep time caught on and when I came back the article was deleted, there was an admin on my talk page calling me a bad editor and reverting half of my contributions for the sake of it. So if something could be salvage, the rest of the article must be ok I suppose, and be given proper attribution I would appreciate it (although I not no sure about expanding it anymore). Appah Rao (talk) 01:08, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
I've re-checked the copyright status of the lead and it appears that it, at least, was not copied from elsewhere (must have mis-read the earlier report). I'll restore the lead (which is the only sourced part of the article anyway), and give caution that if something is directly copied to the article in the future that proper attribution is given. Primefac (talk) 15:10, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
Next time you could also be given caution when using your admin powers. Appah Rao (talk) 22:50, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

If you want to create it, go ahead (and the club's name is Axminster Town A.F.C. anyway), but please do a better job than the other recent creations. It only takes 15-20 minutes to properly write and research a decent starter article. Have a look through this website as it lists their DEFL titles (all the way down to Division Four). This page is meant to be a book description for Nelson DeMille's new novel. His assistant had trouble creating the information page and may have alerted the attention of an administrator because she attempted too many times to create the page. This page was not intended to be for advertising or promotion, but for Nelson DeMille's fans who like to keep track of all his standalone novels and series. —Simonandschuster (talk) 18:18, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Not done and will not be done. It was deleted once as a copyright violation, and two more times as unambiguous promotion. Wikipedia isn't a publicity platform, and it isn't a web host for "fans who like to keep track of" his works. This is an online encyclopedia, and you evidently don't know the distinction. The creator also has violated the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline. The best thing to do is to start over from scratch in draft space or in the user's sandbox (not in main article space) and submit the article for review via Wikipedia:Articles for creation. That's the only way it could realistically be published here. ~Anachronist (talk) 00:10, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 05:05, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Not done – this page was deleted as a blatant advertisement under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion and Wikipedia is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. This does not necessarily mean a suitable article on this topic cannot be created. If it is a notable topic, e.g., multiple reliable, secondary, published sources that are entirely independent of the subject have written about it in substantive detail (not just mere mentions), then a neutrally written article may be possible. This one was written like a commercial. SoWhy 09:30, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Incorrect, deleted under G7, so eligible for refund. However, the article contained no content besides "Violetta series 2 consits 80 episodes." so   Not done. Feel free to create a new article yourself. Regards SoWhy 09:35, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Publius Silius

I created this redirect to Publius Silius Nerva on the assumption that Nerva was the primary referent of simple "Publius Silius". The page was deleted less 7 days later by User:Llywrch (indicating that nobody PRODed it). It did not meet any speedy deletion criterion. I brought this to Llywrch's attention here, but s/he has ignored my request to self-revert. S/He has conceded that the name in question could refer to the redirect target (it is ambiguous). That s/he thinks the namespace in question should be an article about somebody is else is not a valid reason for speedy deletion without discussion or PRODing. —Srnec (talk) 04:25, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Not good enough. You abused your admin powers. I want the article undeleted. Then you can create this new article. Why is this so hard? Srnec (talk) 21:53, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
The article isn't deleted. The only deleted contribution in the history is a redirect to Publius Silius Nerva. The two are different subjects, therefore one shouldn't redirect to the other, but a disambiguation line should be added to the top of each article. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:33, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
The article was deleted and the admin who deleted has now written an article over top. The edit in question should be restored. It was deleted in appropriately. Without notice or discussion when no criterion for speedy deletion applied. Srnec (talk) 23:17, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
To clarify, you want a partial name redirect restored instead of having a proper article about someone by that name? Legacypac (talk) 03:43, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Ohio State Journal of Dispute Resolution

Hello, I saw that my page was deleted for copyright infringement. I do not quite understand how I violated a copy right when everything is our journal's own words/work and I have cited every paragraph. My name is Tyrik Jiang, I am a staff editor for the Ohio State Journal of Dispute Resolution (jiang.1579@osu.edu), I have cited every paragraph to our organization's page and I have been working with our leadership board in regards to the information I have put down. Every word that was on this wiki page was taken from our Ohio State University's Official Website with permission. In fact, I have cited repeatedly the exact page that the admins have noted that I took the information from. I believe that there was another issue "G11 Promotion", I had another thought on this and I could see how this is an issue as it is written in a very "first person" way, I am perfectly willing to edit everything with your suggestions to address that as well. Please assist, thank you sir/madam. —Tjiang93 (talk) 12:32, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

User:Tjiang93 two problems. You appeared to violated copyright when you copied everything from the other pages. Wikipedia pages can not be copied from copyrighted sources and it is unlikely the organization would release their website under a compatable free to use license. There is no way the Admins will restore a copyright violation like this. Secondly you have a WP:COI and probably should not be writing about your employer. Legacypac (talk) 03:59, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
Not done and will not be done. We take copyright violations seriously. Even if you did it "with permission" from the University, the site itself is under copyright and thus we cannot have copy/paste submissions (even with attribution). You're welcome to restart the article in your own words. Primefac (talk) 12:42, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Not done and will not be done No, it isn't an "official page". Wikipedia doesn't host "official pages" for anyone. It was deleted multiple times for being unambiguously promotional, and will stay that way. If you want an article about yourself, start it in your sandbox or in draft space, and submit it for review via Wikipedia:Articles for creation. As an editor with a conflict of interest, you should not be editing articles about yourself. ~Anachronist (talk) 20:20, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
