This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. - Sanitize, v: to make less offensive by eliminating anything unwholesome, objectionable, incriminating, etc.: to sanitize a document before releasing it to the press.[1]
Wikipedia is not censored. In order to adhere to a neutral point of view, articles must include all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. This includes morally offensive views.
Attempts to sanitize articles by removing offensive or negative material from an article move articles away from NPOV.
Determining what type of edits are inappropriate sanitizing and which ones are maintaining NPOV can be challenging and highly subjective. Wikipedia:Consensus must be relied upon to resolve such disputes.
