We shouldn't start creating templates for youth tournaments, they aren't really notable, and most of the articles are stubs. BlueRed 00:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Major question: Is there a particularly strong consensus (really "big" AFD with precedential value, a guideline, etc.) that youth tournaments are categorically non-notable? Youth tournamnets themselves are definately notable, if they were not there would not be substantial articles such as 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The problem is that many of the players never go on to meet WP:ATHLETE by playing at professional level. I think what the nominator meant is that playing in Under-20 youth tournaments is not in itself a notable achievement by WP:ATHLETE standards. Templates such as the Chile 2007 one are just clutter, international squad templates should be restricted to high importance events such as the FIFA World Cup and Copa América.
