This template was created by a user trying to draft an article for Portuguese Wikipedia. (See the discussion at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Infobox loop detected: HELP!!.) In order to support the Portuguese draft they created this template with the name of the Portuguese equivalent of Infobox writer and containing only the signature of the Portuguese template. The template is used only in two copies of the Portugese draft, where it is of no use, being nonfunctional. I have advised the user to use {{Infobox writer}} if they wish to create an English version of the article. —teb728 t c 22:47, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated {{Cquote}} for rename and partial repurposing, to address the concerns raised in the three TfDs this template has narrowly survived already. Nothing has been done to date that adequately addresses those concerns, and the template is still subject to an unbelievable (indeed, worsening) level of rampant abuse, in thousands of articles, mistaking it for the block quotation template {{quote}}. Template:2013–14 in European football (UEFA) (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

While this template is a part of an acceptable group of templates, I feel it is WP:TOOSOON for this template. It has a huge number of red-links, and if someone creates those articles they will be redirected to the parent article or nominated for deletion. The only articles that are blue-linked but aren't redirects, are the continental competetion plus the 2013 season league articles for the Nordic countries, but they are also a part of Template:2012–13 in European football (UEFA).   • Keep: It is used now. Contrary to Presidentman's claim, there is a difference between the two templates, and it was clearly indicated in the edit summary left by the person who created this template: "Created alternate Defunct MiLB infobox for teams that do not have their logos posted on wikipedia." That difference should be indicated somewhere other than just in that edit summary, granted, but I don't know the appropriate place for it, since I have very limited experience with templates. It seems like a very useful template for that stated purpose. The template {{Infobox Defunct Minor League Baseball}} currently provides no option for suppressing the logo fields. I have no particular interest in baseball, so there may well be many pages for which this template would be useful, if given a proper listing pointing out the difference. (It was only my interest in Oregon, not baseball, that led me to discover the usefulness of this template for the two pages where I then proceeded to use it.) The two pages where I've used the alternate template (Salem Angels and Salem Senators) are teams that have been gone for 25 years or more, pre-Internet, so there's a good chance their logos will remain unavailable on WP for the foreseeable future, and presumably there are many similar cases in other states.   • Delete: Now that Frietjes has modified the main template, I agree that this alternate should be deleted, and I am withdrawing my "keep" vote. However, it would have been better if Frietjes had done that before nominating the template for deletion. The difference between the two templates was indicated by the creator of this alternate (user Historyissues) on October 6, and although it is possible to debate whether the difference was "major" or not, the difference did exist, and the deletion nomination should have pointed out what the difference was. Please don't assume everyone knows how to fix template issues like this one. Leaving those fields blank did not work until today, after Frietjes modified the general template to make those fields optional, something I had no idea how to do (and evidently neither did the editor who created the alternate template in the first place).
