It was released on 17 September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and is scheduled to be released in Q3/Q4 2014 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series since 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas (based on Southern California), the single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists, with the game's use of three lead protagonists representing a break from series tradition. Either in a single player or an online multiplayer mode, players can freely roam the open world of San Andreas, which includes rural environments and the fictional city of Los Santos (based on Los Angeles). Upon release, Grand Theft Auto V was critically acclaimed, drawing praise for its open world design and technical capabilities, and broke industry sales records, becoming the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning US $800 million in its first day and US $1 billion its first three days.
