WNYC's advance preparation
edit- Invite staff, especially on communication and outreach teams! Wikipedia influences online research of all topics! Anyone who has not had an introduction to Wikipedia will find this workshop interesting!
- Anyone who does not already have one should create a Wikipedia account
- Plan to convene in a room where the trainer can do demos for the team (a projector is ideal) and where participants can talk with each other and see each other's computers
- important The event hosts should curate information sources in advance! Collect links to publications and media which you would like to promote, distribute, and disseminate! Wikipedia is a summary of published sources - select published sources which you wish to summarize! Wikipedia favors the kinds of sources which an academic librarian would value as authoritative. The quality of an event depends on the quality of information which the hosts provide for event participants to share in Wikipedia.
