WOMEESA (Women in Earth & Environmental Science Australasia) and GSA (Geological Society of Australia) are partnering with Wikimedia Australia to increase the visibility of women in Earth Sciences in Australasia.

editWikipedia is the 5th most visited website globally, yet few women scientists have a stand-alone Wikipedia profile page. And less than 20% of all Wikipedia profile pages are of women. Only 15-20% of Wikipedia editors are women. Let's work together to improve this, and increase the visibility of our incredible Earth Science women in Australasia!
Our ultimate goal is to increase the number of Wikipedia pages for notable women in Earth and Environmental Sciences in Australasia (Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific). We will focus on both current Level E professorial women working in the 04 Field of Research code (2008 classification) as well as adding and updating pages for women who have made significant contributions in the past.

What should I work on during the edit-a-thon?
editThere are many different ways for you to contribute today. Wikipedia is the product of millions of individual contributions and every change that is made, no matter how small, makes a difference!
We’ve prepared a list of suggested subjects and assembled some preliminary sources to get you started. Keep in mind Wikipedia’s Conflict of Interest guidelines when selecting your subject to make sure it is appropriate for you to make the edits.

edit- Choose a subject from the table below. Write your username in the last column so different people don't work on the same page during the edit-a-thon. After the edit-a-thon anyone is able to edit any page.
- If the subject is living, please read and follow the guidelines in Wikipedia: Biographies of living persons (shortcut WP:BLP), for both new pages and editing existing ones.
- If there is already a page for that subject, check the Talk page for any comments or suggested edits and check the Article page for any templates with suggestions for improvements.
- Use Australian English and spelling.
