editWikipedia talk. Articles for creation/HillTop Records
edit"Say, I see many Wikipedia pages that do not seem to meet the standards set for Hilltop. For example.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trafford_Publishing and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate_Publishing_%26_EnterprisesWhat did these companies do that we have not done?" - In general, the existence of other articles does not mean that that content is acceptable. To establish notability and verifiability, there must be reliable, independent sources. A412 (Talk • C) 04:39, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Review of User:Rags Daniels/Rags Daniels
editArticle, Rags Daniels. Dear Sir/Madam, how do I attach a photograph with my bio'? Rags Daniels (talk) 05:47, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, this article should be written with a more neutral tone WP:NPOV. To add picture, upload the photograph using the link to the left, and then attach it onto your article using [[File:Example.png|thumb |alt=Example alt text |Example caption]]. See WP:IMAGE. Hi there,
I was trying to publish an article on Achiel Keppens (Belgian producer and musician), but apparently this person is 'not important enough' to get mentioned in Wikipedia...
I believe the information listed in the arcticle sufficiently shows that Achiel Keppens has - in different musical projects - contributed a lot to the alternative music scene - and is therefore worth to be mentioned in Wikipedia.
Albums like "Leap" and "Decadent", singles like "Seeddump" have become 'classics' in the alternative music scene and if that is not important of being mentioned... I don't get it!
thanks for your input — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ozwet (talk • contribs) 09:25, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- WorkingI will look at in more detail soon. In the mean time, Wikipedia can not be used as a reference. Please seeWP:CIRCULAR. Try to find reviews of the group in magazines or newspapers. No blogs. Many sources look and smell like and independent sources, but they turn out to be blogs. :- ) DCS 18:21, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Nothing has changed with the exception that you need to decide if your article is about VOX & JACKS (band) or Achiel Keppens. You can't add the notability of both together to get an article. Please see WP:NMUSIC for requirements. Delete the Wikipedia references and get some good independent reliable sources at proves notability. :- ) DCS 17:49, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
My article keeps getting rejected
editI am writing about the digital place-based advertising association and my submission keeps getting rejected due to lack of sources. Can you help me fix this so it will get approved.Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/digital place-based advertising association RyanPogy (talk) 14:56, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Your article: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Digital Place based Advertising Association has only two unique references. Two from the company and one from Arbitron. Although Arbitron is independent, and shows that the company is successful in creating a change. The information that show the company's impact in the real world are from the company, and not therefore independent. Perhaps a newspaper, magazine, or a trade journal showing how well it works would be sufficient. :- ) DCS 16:20, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
"This submission reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article. Submissions should summarise information in secondary, reliable sources and not contain opinions or original research. Please write about the topic from a neutral point of view in an encyclopedic manner."
I do not understand how to change an article. It is not an essay. It doesn't show my opinion or thoughts. It doesn't show original research. It is written fully based on scientific publications based on theoretical and empirical research. How to change my article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Renate.vidruska (talk • contribs) 18:42, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, yes your claims are backed up by sources, but you also make connecting claims which are not backed up, such as "The consumer knows the fact that the price for a flight varies over time. So, this industry doesn't suffer from unfairness perception." You had a premise there which you did not back up, and is probably hard to back up due to its vagueness. And then you used that assumption to come up with a conclusion. This is what the editor meant, and I agree with him. I didn't read the whole paper, but change at least this sentence, and think about what I am saying and apply it to the rest of the article, maybe then you can submit it again. Dear,
I need a help to submit my article Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Khazar Islands i already submit it to be reviewed and its was rejected because its need more information on why the subject is worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. if you take a look to this article you will find it a very important topic a bout future largest islands in the world and also mentioned the future largest tower in the region "Azerbaijan tower" and this article is important to be available in Wikipedia. any help please to improve my article.MarkDafoe (talk) 20:15, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- Well, completely apart from the actual content of the article (I'm not sure that a project still gathering investors is really worth an article) you would need more sources. At present you really only have one reliable source (the other is a primary source), and all article must be supported by multiple reliable, independent sources. Please add more news sources like the one you have, and resubmit. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 20:25, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Citing References
editHi,
I've received a few notices that my submission Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/EFILM wasn't "adequately supported by reliable, independent sources." A previous editor recommended multiple, reliable independent sources and suggested referencing articles or newspapers that EFILM (the company in question) has been profiled in. Toward that end, I provided a number of web citations: independent overviews of the company from two sources and a selection of articles/press releases from Universal Studios and The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, which are two major Hollywood trades.
After making the aforementioned changes, I attempted to submit yet again for approval and another editor told the same thing I was told before, which was that my submission wasn't "adequately supported by reliable, independent sources." I thought I had just done that with the new citations I provided. What other references should I provide that I'm missing? Am I formatting things wrong? I'm almost at wit's end here. - I've deleted the 'Services' and 'Executive' sections, as I think they are unnecessary, if you disagree with me, then just revert it back, but I think it would fit better as an article without it. The other thing you should do is to change the history away from a bullet/list form, but more into paragraphs. If you do that, then it'd probably be accepted. Of course, you must follow the style of formatting as outlined here. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 23:34, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
