Hi, Your advise would be appreciated. I would like to update the SAE Institute Wikipedia entry and also make some corrections. Can you please advise me as to the best way forward.

Many thanks

Steve

@Stevesae: You can just go ahead and edit the SAE Institute article, as long as any content you're adding is supported by reliable references. Take a look at WP:REFB for some guidance on that matter. No need to inquire here, as we deal with Articles for Creation, which is when someone wants to make a new article. Thanks, wia (talk) 14:44, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am needing assistance in creating a page that does not infringe on copyright. My page quotes Congressional testimony using proper footnotes, quotations, and references (I thought). I got a notice saying that my page violates the same testimony that I cited. Can someone explain how this is violating copyright? I have been working hard on this page to make sure it is accurate and well referenced. I would really appreciate any help. 208.67.210.24 (talk) 14:22, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done The draft does not infringe on http://judiciary.house.gov/_files/hearings/pdf/Hoffman03112011.pdf. The passages in question are directly quoted, with inline attribution and inline citations, and are not excessive. Worldbruce (talk) 15:52, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am wondering why this submission was declined for: The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Almost every sentence in this submission is backed up by verifiable sources. The rejection also states: Please cite your sources using footnotes -- but there are currently 12 footnotes -- it's very confusing and frustrating! Any advice is appreciated.

Stephanie vernier (talk) 16:09, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Stephanie vernier: Citations appear throughout the draft, but they don't fully back up the statements where they're cited. Where do the SFGate or Dwell sources say that he was born in 1951? Where does CNN Money (added after the draft was declined) say that he was born in Pasadena, studied aesthetics at UC Santa Cruz, studied ceramics at Alfred University, or that it was in 1981 that he won the NEA grant? Where do CNN Money or the LA Times (another source added after the decline) say that he taught at Cleveland Institute of Art or Philadelphia College of Art, that he worked at Selfridges or The Nature Company, or that it was in 1985 that he earned his MBA? I stopped checking halfway through.
The submission reads as if it started as a resume and then an effort was made to find sources to support the text. If that's the case, it's no wonder it has had so much trouble with neutral point of view and references. Instead, start over with what reliable sources say about the subject, and fashion the article from those building blocks. It will be much less frustrating in the long run, I promise. Thanks for the advice -- I re-worked and re-submitted! Hopefully, this one will go through. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephanie vernier (talkcontribs) 00:59, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why was my MealEnders contribution deleted? I am happy to take out the PR Newswire link/ref if that was the only thing wrong with it, which was the only thing listed in the response. Can someone please clarify? Ahagstrom (talk) 16:30, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ahagstrom: Please actually read the message on your talk page. Once you have, if you do not understand it, please come back here and ask your question. We find and stamp on copyright violations. Fiddle Faddle 18:43, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
