Guidelines for Writing Natural Disaster Articles

Naming

If a disaster is widely known by a particular name, then the article should use that name as its title. For example:

• Ash Wednesday bushfires
• Thredbo landslide

If a disaster does not have wide recognition with a particular name, then it should be titled in the form {{date}} {{location}} {{disaster type}}.

Examples:

• 2003 Canberra bushfires
• 1974 Brisbane flood
• 1989 Newcastle earthquake
