Wikipedia:WikiProject Bahá'í Faith/Assessment

This is the assessment department WikiProject Bahá'í Faith. Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of assessments for articles: their quality and their importance in terms of the project. Some of the criteria for quality articles is already decided by the WP:1.0 team and there are batteries of assessment that apply to all Wikipedia articles, from simple formatting fixes to peer review.

To assess an article, the first step is to place the WikiProject Bahá'í Faith banner on its talk page {{WikiProject Bahá'í Faith}} - if this is too cumbersome, simply insert {{WPBF}}; this causes the article to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Bahá'í Faith articles by quality and Category:Bahá'í Faith articles by importance.

Please list articles for rating in the assessment requests section below. Any member of the WikiProject can add to or change the rating of any article.

The following values may be used for the class parameter to describe the quality of the article:

For pages that are not articles, the following values can also be used for the class parameter:

Articles for which a valid class is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed-Class Bahá'í Faith articles. The class should be assigned according to the quality scale below.

After assessing an article's quality, comments on the assessment can be added either to the article's talk page or to the /Comments subpage which will appear as a link next to the assessment. Adding comments will add the article to Category:Bahá'í Faith articles with comments.

Importance scale

Label Criteria Reader's experience Editor's experience Example
Top The article is one of the core topics about the Bahá'í Faith. There will be very few of these and they are a priority for making into featured article status. To the extent that readers are familiar with the Bahá'í Faith at all, they are likely to be familiar with these topics. Articles in this importance range are written in mostly generic terms, leaving technical terms and descriptions for more specialized pages. Bahá'í Faith
High The article covers a topic that is vital to important in understanding the Bahá'í Faith. Readers may have some familiarity of the topic or simply the name of the article, but will lack any substantive background unless they have previously read on the topic. These articles can still be written mostly as overviews and it will probably not be necessary to resort to jargon or esoteric sources for writing these articles. Experienced editors can, of course, add this information and are encouraged to do so in the text. Shoghi Effendi
Mid The article covers a topic that has a strong but not vital role in the development of the Bahá'í Faith. Considering the obscurity of Bahá'í Faith, it is likely that readers have never heard of these topics before. Technical language may be required if the topic is very particular, but introductory passages will be necessary. Most Bahá'í texts would fit in this category or the Bahá'í calendar.
Low The article is not vital for understanding the Bahá'í Faith. Readers are probably entirely unfamiliar with this topic. It will likely be difficult to obtain enough accurate information to make these articles more than stubs - consider merging several such articles if there is not enough content to justify separate articles. Technical language may be necessary if it is very particular. Several Bahá'í biographies would fit this criterion; e.g. individual members of the Universal House of Justice.

Notes

  1. ^ As this project was being created, the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team was creating the C-class assignment for articles. As of now, that quality has not been added to this WikiProject, but there is no discrimination against its inclusion.
