The existing categorization of Bangladesh related topics doesn't look very systematic. Here's a proposed categorization scheme for Bangladesh related topics. True, categorization of other major countries are no better, but that should not stop us to clean-up the categorization for Bangladesh.

The idea for this scheme comes from different sources. The directory structure on Bangladesh project page and List of Bangladesh-related topics were of particular help.

The assumptions are:

• Same article may be added to several categories as appropriate. Example: the Article on Khaleda Zia may be added to: Notable Bangladeshi Politician, Notable Bangladeshi Muslims and Notable people from Feni district.
• Same subcategory may be added to several master categories. Example: "Financial Institutions in Bangladesh" is added to both: "Economy of Bangladesh" and "Bangladeshi Organizations by field of operation".
• Articles may be added to a master category or a subcategory under it - but not both. For example the Article Bangladesh should be linked to Master Category "Bangladesh Related Topic by Subject" - but not to any of its subcategories. On the other hand the article on Economy of Bangladesh should be mapped to "Economy of Bangladesh" but neither to any of its subcategories, nor to the master category "Bangladesh Related Topic by Subject".

The Category "Bangladesh" is proposed to branch out to 4 sub-categories. No article should be directly linked to category Bangladesh. The 4 subcategories are:

• Bangladesh Related Topic by Subject
• Bangladesh Related Topic by Quality
• Bangladesh Related Topic by Importance
• Bangladesh Related Images

Bangladesh Related Topic by Subject

Only one article should be directly linked to this master category - the article on Bangladesh. All other articles must go to any of the six proposed subcategories:

• Bangladeshi People
• Economy of Bangladesh
• Geography of Bangladesh
• History of Bangladesh
• Society of Bangladesh
• Organizations in Bangladesh

Bangladeshi People

The only article that I can think of directly linking to this category is a possible future article on "Bangladeshi People". All other articles related to Bangladeshi individuals should be linked to one or more sub-categories under following 3 branches.

Subcategories by major occupation. e.g.

• Bangladeshi Politician
• Bangladeshi Teacher
• Bangladeshi Author
• Bangladeshi Journalist etc.

Bangladeshi People by district of origin

Subcategory for 64 districts. e.g.

• Notable people from Dhaka district
• Notable people from Chittagong district etc.

• Notable Bangladeshi Muslims
• Notable Bangladeshi Hindus etc.

May have 3 sub-categories:

• Airports in Bangladesh
• Sea Ports in Bangladesh

Divisions in Bangladesh

Under Divisions category we can have sub-categories for each district. Each district can have a few more sub categories under them. For example, Dhaka District category will have a direct link to article on Dhaka district and will have the following sub-categories:

• Upazilas under Dhaka District
• Parliament constituencies under Dhaka district
• Localities under Dhaka district
• Notable people from Dhaka district
• Organizations based in Dhaka district

Geographic Sites in Bangladesh

Can anyone propose a better name for this master category? Some articles may be linked here directly, like:

• Bay of Bengal
• Baredra Bhumi
• Ganges Delta etc.

But none the less it should have following subcategories.
