Wikipedia:WikiProject Capital District/NYCD Articles Needing Attention
Hopefully someone has an interest in adopting these neglected and/or abused homeless articles. They need love and attention and a good home. For less than the price of a coffee a day you too can make a difference in some article's history. Feel free to add to this list any strays you may encounter and not have time or knowledge to help on it. For every article needing an editor there is an editor with too much free time, lets pair up needy articles and editors. Please remember to add the CD wikiproject template to the talk page when creating a new article!
Articles that need to be started or need alot of work
edit- Rensselaer Technology Park
- Central Avenue, Albany, New York, orphan article that has existed for some time without much notice and no wikiproject banners. Possible deletion/merge into NY 5? Has many problems but I would prefer to save it than have someone delete it. Comments?
- Avraham Qanai
- University Heights Association
- Congress Street Bridge one sentence article!
- Luther Forest Technology Campus- Serious POV problem, lacks accurate history of the previous industrial/military use of the campus
- Albany Memorial Hospital
- Cherry Hill Mansion
- Assuming this is the same as Cherry Hill, listed on the NRHP in Albany County, it would be easy to start this article with NRHP material, including NRHP application document available at NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and History's search site.
- Ten Broeck Mansion
- Lansingburgh, New York
- Empire State Plaza
- Eagle Bridge, New York
- Averill Park, New York
- Sand Lake, New York, history section is a copy and paste job from a VERY old and outdated source
- New York State Department of Education Building, officially the Education Building
- This is listed on the NRHP in Albany County, and photo is available, so it would be easy to create a good DYK for this one using NRHP material, including NRHP application document available at NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and History's search site. doncram (talk) 21:28, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Watervliet Shaker Historic District
- Most articles dealing with NY state and US routes that go through the CD are awfully unattentive to the route description within the Capital District. Even FA and GA articles need expanding in this area (NY Route 32 and US Route 4 in New York are two examples). US Route 9 in New York has the subsection for Albany to Saratoga Springs as part of the North Country section.
- Anything here that is listed in National Register of Historic Places listings in Albany County, New York can easily, legitimately be made immediately into a stub wikipedia article, including Downtown Albany Historic District, currently a red-link. Pretty much any NRHP listing is wikipedia-notable. There is a useful tool for generating a cut-and-paste ready NRHP infobox filled out with address, coordinates, map, and more, provided kindly by User:Elkman, at http://www2.elkman.net/nrhp/infobox.php. Same for listings outside of Albany county, check List of RHPs in NY. Further, for each NRHP listed place, there is an extensive reliable source available, the NRHP application document for the place or district, prepared by architectural historians and qualified others. Search tips on finding the NYS NRHP application documents available at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#State specific sources.
- Also needed, articles for these hamlets/communities in which one or more Albany County NRHP places are located:
Well enough started ones, but still some refinements needed
edit- Albany Pine Bush
- Quackenbush House, oldest building in the city of Albany, today a restaurant.
- First Reformed Church (Albany, New York)
- Albany Union Station
- Rapp Road Community Historic District, small African-American neighborhood in Pine Bush near Crossgates Mall dating from 1940s and still there today
- Albany Great Danes men's lacrosse
