About the project
This project was forum and dedicated to improve topics and articles related to Cartoon Network. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in this field. Generally, we think of it as being the oversight for our specific subject matter and to be the layer between routine editing and the administrative layers of Wikipedia.

If you would like to help, please add your name to the membership list. WikiProject Cartoon Network is focused on improving and expanding the coverage of Cartoon Network, its past, present and future, across Wikipedia, and we would be delighted to welcome you.

Goals
  1. Identify and categorize existing Cartoon Network-related articles on Wikipedia.
  2. Develop standards for what is required for Cartoon Network-related articles for consistency and best practices.
  3. Improve the quality of existing Cartoon Network articles, including Adult Swim articles.
  4. Ensure articles are in line with Wikipedia's minimum standards and policies, including but not limited to: WP:N, WP:NOR, WP:OWN, WP:V and WP:NPOV.
  5. Identify and develop standardized tables, tags and categorization schemes for articles.
  6. Identify and create articles that are not yet included in Wikipedia.
  7. Bring every Cartoon Network-related article up to GA, FA and/or FL status.
  8. Maintain or improve articles that come under our jurisdiction.
  9. Reduce trivial information, speculation, and anything else that violates WP:WAF, WP:N, WP:PLOT, WP:V, WP:CRYSTAL, WP:MOSTV, WP:FICT, and WP:TRIV.
  10. Verify and validate content

  12. Create, improve, and maintain Wikipedia's coverage of Cartoon Network articles

Scope
  • The project covers all Cartoon Network related-articles, including the main network in the United States and various other networks internationally, such as their original animated series (including Cartoon Cartoons), productions made by Cartoon Network Studios, the Adult Swim programing block (under the Adult Swim task force), and related media. However, we acknowledge and are grateful for the work of other projects in the field, and will reserve the majority of our attention to that content which does not fall within the scope of other active projects.
  • It does not cover off-network shows, anime series and programming outside Cartoon Network (except Powerpuff Girls Z).
  • It does not extend to programming which is purchased by Cartoon Network to air but has no involvement from them or to programming made by Warner Bros. Animation.
  • It has a strict policy against trivia, "...in popular culture" and otherwise crufty issues, either as sections or whole articles.

Guidelines
This guideline tries to help editors improve the quality of Wikipedia's articles within scope of Cartoon Network related articles. For Wikipedia guidelines regarding how to write about fiction in general, see Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction). These are only guidelines and may be altered depending on current Wikipolicies and/or project participant consensus. Remember, these are guidelines, not policies. Most of these guidelines are accepted as standard practice across Wikipedia. All the standard Wikipedia policies still apply.

Departments
The Cartoon Network WikiProject runs several departments.

Assessment

Any articles that are within the scope of this project should be tagged with {{WikiProject Cartoon Network}} banner. One of the main tasks of the Cartoon Network WikiProject is to assess the quality of Wikipedia's Cartoon Network-related articles. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to help in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work. They also play a role in the WP:1.0 program, which the WikiProject uses to help automate some of the assessing process. The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Cartoon Network}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Cartoon Network articles by quality and Category:Cartoon Network articles by importance, which serve as the foundation for an automatically generated worklist. WP:1.0 also produces a statistics page, and a log of articles assessed. To find out more, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Cartoon Network/Assessment.

Maintenance

Checklinks is a tool whih allows editors to verify reflinks and external links for linkrot. We use an automated version to create a list of articles that have issues. The list of articles are available here. The list is updated monthly.

New articles

AlexNewArtBot has been set up to identify new articles that are potentially within the scope of this project, based on the rules defined at User:AlexNewArtBot/Toon. It is likely that some are false positives, in which case the log at User:AlexNewArtBot/ToonLog should be examined for more information.

This list was generated from these rules. Questions and feedback are always welcome! The search is being run daily with the most recent ~14 days of results. Note: Some articles may not be relevant to this project.

Watchlist

The WikiProject Cartoon Network maintains a watchlist for all articles tagged as within our scope. The list is like your own watchlist but much larger. It lists every article tagged by us, and may also be helpful if a normal alphabetical list is needed. It is updated automatically by bot, so manual changes are not required.
