Description

In the ongoing worldwide debates on economic policy, precipitated by the financial crisis, interest in heterodox macroeconomics theories is increasing. Modern Monetary Theory, also known as Chartalism, is arguably the most notable among post-Keynesian economics. Wikipedia's competent and interested contributors are invited to undertake the overall improvement of all relevant articles and create additional ones, where appropriate. Discussion

Chartalism is clearly a subtopic of economics, and a pretty specialized one at that; rather than a separate project, perhaps a task force would be more appropriate?

Perhaps a “monetary economics” task force/focus would be more appropriate? Choosing a particular school of thought is partisan, and likely contentious. While this is appropriate for complex schools of thought such as Marxism, Chartalism is a narrowly focused school, and I’m not sure that it would benefit from this kind of organization – working on relevant articles, with other interested editors (regardless of which schools they may believe in), either within the auspices of WikiProj:Econ or independently, seems more productive.

Monetary economics is a pretty contentious issue here on WP, and I fear that establishing a group devoted to advancing a particular position would just add fuel to the fire. Some task force/discussion to help resolve/mediate disputes and reduce edit-warring might be helpful though – might you consider that instead?

I strongly recommend that you join WP:WikiProject Economics instead of spending your time on the administrivia associated with creating a new project. Anything that you would have posted at this project or task force, you can post at WT:ECON—with the distinct advantage that there are already a few folks there, so you might even get a few extra editors involved.
