Description
editDiving is a great, spectator-friendly sport participated in by dozens of nations at a highly competitive international level. Currently, diving-related articles such as, well, diving, in addition to bios of notable divers like Greg Louganis and Dmitri Sautin are currently classified as falling under WP:SWIMMING. Now, the two are related - they even hold their world championships at the same overarching event - but diving is not swimming. It merits its own Project, should there be sufficient interest in it. The Diving WikiProject would manage bios of notable divers and give results of notable diving competitions, not only the Olympic Games and the world championships but also events like the Diving World Series, which see participation from the sport's biggest current stars. I don't think it'd be terribly different from existent sports WikiProjects, it's just a sport we don't yet have a Project for. One of the proposal guides says that checking the number of inbound links to the main article of the potential Project is a good metric for its scope. Nearly 2,000 articles link to diving.
