I think there have been suggestions beyond this version that are not yet incorporated. I'll go back through our discussion threads and try to find them. If I miss yours, feel free to edit this proposal yourself.

In summary, this reorganization plan suggests that we break out very detailed sections into separate articles, and provide a summary of the information in the main article, with a link to the detailed article. See Wikipedia:Summary style for more information about this Wikipedia information structure.

This draft reorganization plan suggests that we create the following new articles from the existing content on dyslexia:

• Definitions of dyslexia

• Dyslexia subtypes

• Theories of developmental dyslexia

• Dyslexia symptoms

• Dyslexia treatments

• Controversies about dyslexia

Here are the details about how each section would be handled in this reorganization:

1 Overview

2 History

Only addressed here, in the summary article.

3 Dyslexia definitions

Provide summary in this location, including the fact that the term is defined differently, and pointing out the major elements common to most of the different definitions. Break out the detailed comparative definitions of dyslexia into a single separate article.

New article: Definitions of dyslexia

List of all organizational definitions, with appropriate comparison and contrast.

4. Subtypes of dyslexia

Note: We may want to combine subtypes and definitions in a single article. We don't seem to have achieved consensus on this yet.

Provide summary of hypothetical subtypes. Break out details into a separate article. I think this can be done in a single break-out article.

Includes details of all major sybtypes as defined by various researchers and organizations.

Keep this information relatively brief and summary in style. Link to main articles for those topics.

When we discuss specific content to appear in this article, we should keep in mind that there are existing articles we can link to on the US legal issues with respect to IDEA, RTI, special education, etc. I don't think the legal issues for other countries are covered elsewhere.

This section is way, way too long for the main article. Again, recommend including summary here and breaking out details into separate article.

Instead of just presenting characteristics, we might consider reframing the information to present symptoms that are possible indicators of dyslexia, as precursor to evaluation.

Responses to reorganization plan

I have looked at the plan below, which seem to follow the same problems as the orginal page, but only to transfer the problems into sperate articles.

We need to decide who all of these articles will link together, and help explain or add to the content of the sister articles in the whole plan.

First we have to decide where we want to define dyslexia, in one research review carried out in the UK 2004 they published 28 defintiuons of Dyslexia including 3 from the UKs Britsh Dyslexia Association. How do you decide which of these defintion and there will be others as well to adopt and to use to act as a frame work for this project.

Reading through a great deal of dyslexia research artilces and papers, thye all tend to focus on auditory, visual, and phonological processing problems, and some alos include attention issues as well. The so called check lists of symptoms tend to imiated so may other disorders that it would indicate that these other disorders are the underlying causes of a common dyslexic symptom, having problems with reading writing and spelling the written word or the visual notation of speech that each culture may choose to use.

The sub types are more the different neurological causes of the dyslexic symptom.

The Theories, of dyslexia all try to find or define a single cause of dyslexia when tresearch tends to show that there are many underlying causes of dyalexia, and that dyalexia is more a symptom than a condition.

There are only suggest support programs as treatment suggests a cure, there is no cure for dyslexia, dyslexics just develop coping strategies to help them access text, after they have broken through the barrier of find their way of reading and accessing information from the written word.

The whole problems that has caused the creation of this project, is that dyalexia is just one big contravercy. There is no agreed definition of dyslexia, which has been prevented by the disputes and differences from the dyslexia industry who make money from promting their dyslexia programs and support systems products, which may work for some dyslexic but never for all. So we have to decide between what is a sales pitch, and what is internationally peer reviewed research.
