Guideline
editBy consensus, WP:EIA participants and others have agreed[1][2] to the following article standards and style guideline for Australian school articles. The guideline aims to discourage inclusion of non-encyclopaedic material and to encourage a consistent look and feel to articles.
General
edit- It is expected that articles will generally conform with the Manual of Style;
- Consistency is desirable trait, so please check with other Australian School articles before deviating from the current style. That being said, WP:BRD is important, and discussion on any changes is welcome;
- Pre-nominals (academic & occupational) - Acceptable in infoboxes as these may help describe indicate a person's role beyond their title. (conflicts with WP:CREDENTIAL). Includes Dr., Prof., Rev., Sr. etc. In the infobox, these should be ...;
- Pre-nominals (General) - Do not use Mr./Mrs./Ms./Miss, etc. unless the first name (or initial) of the person concerned is unknown.
- Post-nominals (academic) - Do not use.
- Post-nominals (national awards) - Per WP:CREDENTIAL, AC and OA etc. are acceptable. In the infobox, these should be ...;
Infobox
edit- Australian school articles should use {{infobox school}}. See WP:EIAS. A blank is available at for details on usage of individual parameters. A minimal blank, with those parts that would be necessary for an infobox to be complete is available at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Education_in_Australia#Suggested_Blank;
- School articles will generally not include fees, revenue or school rankings in infoboxes. Such information in prose is acceptable, where supported through citations by a secondary reliable source, and where relevant and significant;
- Avoid including individuals in infoboxes beyond the named positions. eg. |headmaster=, |principal=, |vice principal=, |chaplain=, |chairman=, etc.;
- The |key_people= parameter is for notable individuals only (i.e., those individuals who are significant or have a Wikipedia article of their own).

- Dislike Infobox#4. If he has a WP article he'll be wikilinked anyway, and in the named parameter position. –Moondyne 07:43, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- Possibly. But consider, for example, if William & Kate send a kid over to sit in one of our schools. That would be a "key person"? Actually to be honest, I dislike the parameter completely and my disdain for it is growing. -danjel (talk to me) 10:20, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- I would not expect to see a notable student in an infobox. –Moondyne 13:07, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
